High e played on an acoustic gibson jumbonormalized to -3db with audacity. The guitar was recorded with a single microphone (a brauner phantera) connected to an api pre-amp. The signal was fed into a digidesign a/d converter and recorded in protools 9 in waveform audio file format. All the samples were subsequently edited with the gpl software audacity. Location milano, italy. 2013.

The roost is next to the bellingen river in on of the last remaining patches of low altitude rainforest in the region. Recorded on a zoom h4n in stereo. The lions were fairly far away. I've amped it a bit make them louder and removed some bass rumble. We actually had lions walk through and roar (!) in our camp one night! unfortunately i didn't have my recorder running then. It was deafeningly loud! next time!.

This sample consists of noise recorded via a hondo strat electric guitar resp. The guitar's neck pickup. Throughout the sample there is a low hum. In the beginning, a mobile phone was moved in front of the pickup. The noise might have been created by the clock of the phone's cpu or the backlight of the phone. After that, one crt display is switched on resulting in a buzz. Later on, a second crt display is switched on, again resulting in a buzz followed by additional noise in higher frequencies. Then, a neon light is switched on, creating even more noise. Towards the end, again the mobile phone. . . The guitar was connected to a scott&noble ht25r amplifier which was recorded with a t. Bone sc450 condenser and a behringer ddx3216 digital console directly into ardour.

This was originally composed at the keyboard as an improv on multiple tracks. I sped it up to 210 bpm and ran it through the vita virtual synthesizer as "soundtrack percussion", amps off, s and r filters on and lots of delay. A virtual drum loop with a human touch. Heavy beat. War drums 3 is a faster version of this.

This is a tone that i generated using my electric fender strat through one of my vintage amplifiers in my studio. Works well as a sample for composing soundscapes with it - i've used these tones in maschine and other sequencing/midi based instruments to create some interesting orchestral arrangements with the tones.

This sound was recorded december 11, 2013, using an alesis qs8, a roland 550w keyboard amp, the dm1 app for the ipad 2, an m-audio preamp, and multitrack recording software: sonar 6 studio.

This was designed for a short film whereas the subject is checked-out, mentally, and builds up before the 'snap' of a mental break. The room had a grandfather clock and basic evening white noise with the sound of internal blood flow quickly amped.

I took this sample from a phone message. I did use a live feed,(from the headset output on my phone, through a cable into my digital recorder. ) but it is very soft. When i tried recording with out the live feed, i couldn't even find the noise again. It could definitely use to be amped up a bit.

This is only a recording of me playing a djembe, recorded with a pair of nt1-a mics, but after messing around with some of logic's amp and resonator effects i ended up with this. The 6/8 groove reminded me of the doctor-who theme, and the interval displacement of a minor 6th i thought sounded pretty cool. This is a simple sketch, where i played on electric guitar just for fun through a little guitar amp [pignose], some simple rock riff with solo part. It`s not a quality record, so i adding "lo-fi" in a name trek. Temp 77 bpm.

This audio contains a guitar performance of lily was here song. It was recorded using a fender player telecaster guitar and yamaha audio gram 6 audio interface as recording set up. Tempo: 108. The setup to record this performance and the other ones in the same dataset (five guitar dataset) is explained here: the setup used a yamaha audio gram 6 audio interface and reaper 10 to record guitar from direct input (di), a huawei p30 lite model mar-lx1a to record guitar from a mobile and a dell inspiron 13 5000 to record guitar from a computer. To record acoustic guitar in di, i used a fishman neo d single coin on larrivée and seymour duncan seth love on the eastman connected to a nap-5 stageman floor acoustic preamp going then to the audio interface. The computer and mobile were positioned approximately 3. 8 cm from the player position (measured from the twelve fret of the guitars). The electric guitars were plugged into a dv mark little jazz guitar amp which has a di output, that was connected to the audio interface. The amp was located at a distance of 114. 5 cm from the mobile and the computer.

This jump scare sound was created by playing 2 dissonant chords on a single coil telecaster mic'd up w/ a vox ac 10 amp. The two guitar tracks are panned left and right- reverb and delay are added. Additionally, frequency enhancers were added between 4khz - 6khz which adds a higher tonal energy in the upper range of the guitar. Gain is added which can be heard as signal noise mostly at the end of the clip. Enjoy. Bainmack.

Samples of the vintage korg mini pops 45 drum machine. No processing applied here but a very gentle fft based noise reduction. After all, i figured background noise was part of the machine's sonic identity. No patterns here, since that would have taken forever, just the individual sounds. Some of them alone, some of them combined. Recorded mono with a zoom h2n thru the machine's "amp" output.

This is a recording of a slow freight train passing from about 50 feet away using the internal mics of a tascam dr-40. The recording was made in southern mississippi, usa. The train was going down a gentle slop, around a bend. The engines can be heard approaching and passing, followed by the various sounds made by the wheels as the individual cars pass. The file was edited using adobe audition 6. The processing used was a high pass filter around 30 hz and a multi-band compressor. A couple of times during the recording clipping of the pre-amps can be heard because i was manually riding the input gain.

Wrote/recorded a free dance tune at 120bpm using ableton live 9. The notes revolve around: c, g, d, e, dableton stock drum rack w/ stock samples for the percussion section. Mod amp sine bleep for the side toms. Ableton stock grand piano for piano. Muggy stock plugin for the synth-like parts w/ pitch bends in the midi. These are two guitar solo outtakes from a guest guitar session i was asked to be on. They essentially wanted that early era slayer vibe where there is more cacophonous noise than structure. I think i recorded 15-20 for two sections in one song. They chose two other files and this was the one i liked best to keep as a memento. I am the creator and owner of the audio contained within the file. I know guitarists these days want to sound like an andy sneap plugin, but this may give someone a different idea. Within the context of the song they were for they fit well. I'm not apologizing for the playing or quality of the recording. Just something i did for a friend that took me 4x as long to set up than total time under the red light. It was fun.
