Recorded on 19/02/2010 at approx. 6pm in causeway bay, hong kong. Recorded with a zoom h2 in 2-channel surround mode, with a windshield (but unfortunately there is still a bit of wind noise). File has not been modified, only cut short from a longer recording. Note: this is the original wav file of the mp3 posted on freesound.

Lighting a safety match. No other effect apart from using the zoom h6's xy mic at 90 degrees and a bit of trimming and the tinest amount of volume automation to rise the end part to an audible gain. Possible applications could be used for a character who smokes cigarettes, foley for a ignition sound effect or literally lighting a safety match.

Walyunga is a haven of peace and tranquility just outside of perth. It's one of my favourite hikes in the area, as it's only a couple of hours long and combines proximity to water, a bit of a climb, stunning views of perth's skyline, solitude, and gorgeous flora and fauna. This recording was done in june, 2020 using a tascam dr-05x.

Another very old production, i think this one's from around 2009 even!. Using the reverb of a chord i made on my guitar i created a drone-y, washed out sound. Added some subtle bitcrushed drums, cymbals and a vst synthesizer plays some notes to fill it out a bit, and a dark brooding bass-like instrument pulls up near the end of the track.

Two-pole circuit breaker recorded held in my hand, also pressed against a wooden board for more resonance. And some rattling mechanical handling noises at the end. Useful as electrical switch click. 96 khz, 32-bit float. Tlm-103 mic straight into pro tools. The only processing is a mild gate. At least it has a good noise floor.

At 03:27 (-02:13) guys start the car and it makes noices to the end. Ambience in small town with background noices:people talking in polish language, cars, birds, dogs. In some moments could be heard music from nearby event. Recorded by zoom h5 stereo mic 48khz 24 bit.

A short parade of ferraris on their way up lymington high street. The street is lined with people chatting and cheering at the cars, which beep their horns and rev their engines. Zoom h1 with roland cs-em10 in ear mics. Seems a bit heavy on the low frequencies, but i've left it as-is.

Cutted parts of an audio experiment using carbon electra saws with some internal pitch envelope going on, going into trash 2, going into eq modulation, going into manipulator (formant & pitch shift, a bit fm modulation on a shifting frequency at times), going into ott.

I think this sounds a bit like a jazz age theme reflecting a journey by steam ship. It was bolted together from little loopable sections (also uploaded separately here) which were all created using edirol orchestral samples and the magic of arpeggiating programs. Feel free to use this for anything you like without crediting me, or assemble your own tune out of the individual sections.

Very loud recording of an arcade i went to recently. Unfortunately wasn't alone so i had to cut it down quite a bit. It's in crusty mono quality because of my phone (moto g power) and its recorder app (ez voice recorder) but i suppose i can call it lo-fi if i wanted to. So i will!.

I recorded this for a pinball game i worked on. It's a sound of a marble dropping onto a table and then rolling around for a bit, finishing in the marble dropping into a hole (falling onto the carpet). It's meant to simulate the sound of a pinball being put into play on a pinball table. Enjoy!.

This is an attempt to recreate the sound of a gunshot. At a distant and medium distance. The sound consists of two layers. In the synthesis, white noise with different filtering by layers was used. Reverb was not used. The final processing is equalization and a bit of overdrive.

I made it by recording a huge firework explosion, speeding it up, adding a little bit of modified reverb, and some amplifying. I made this in audacity.

A random sound i created for one of my animation. I really don't know what kind of sound do you call it but it is usually used when having a "dramatic" label. Well, whatever that is. Nevermind. Feel free to use it. This sound was achieved by recording myself pounding my table once and slowed it down in audacity while adding a bit reverb to it.

Striking matches / lighting matches close to mic'. 16 bit, 44,1 khz, mono source & output. No envelope automation, no compression, nothing except a slight hp at 26 hz. Clipping did occur on some transients for a few milliseconds (0-4 ms) on the strike due to mic' proximity (3 inches). Mic' used: samson c01 usb.

This is a short stab of music that i think sounds a bit like the shimmering strings often found at the edges of an elder scrolls background theme. I would try to compose more but i don't have that kind of talent of really know what i'm doing.

Short vignette meant to invoke a mixed sense of adventurous curiosity with a sinister undercurrent for apprehensive tension. I took this sample from a phone message. I did use a live feed,(from the headset output on my phone, through a cable into my digital recorder. ) but it is very soft. When i tried recording with out the live feed, i couldn't even find the noise again. It could definitely use to be amped up a bit.

A recording that i did on a shoot for some ambient sound while in a small 10' motor boat. The motor runs for a little while but then turns off and the sound of the boat just floating in the water can be heard. The mic is moved around a bit to get a few samples of different perspectives.

I drew this thx deep note imitation in photosounder by drawing several lines with the white spray with the harmonics modifier. I first had a look at the original thx sound and tried to reproduce what i saw. The final chorus sounds bad because it's hand-drawn, so the right notes aren't hit plus the lines aren't straight so the pitches keep moving around a bit.

Recording of a pair of oven mitts being hit together. Might be useful in a game as an inventory sound. Recorded using a blue yeti microphone at 16-bit 44100hz in audacity. Used audacity's noise removal filter to to remove background noise. For this file, i isolated the samples i liked and left a small gap of silence between them for separation later. Attribution appreciated but not required.

This is my second blade effect. Let me know if it is any good. I think it sounds just a little bit better than my first one. Using a finger and a small blackroll tube, i recorded a few plopps with a rode nt-usb mini and the rode podcast recording software. Noise gate and compression were turned on at the time of recordings. For me, it sounds a little bit like a cork popping from a bottle, but it has a richer sound, somewhat overdoing it. . . Good for sfx though.

I've encountered fantasicly squeaky screws when putting together an mdf cabinet. The screws were driven with a scredriver into pre-puchend holes in an mdf panel. Recorded with zoom h1 at 96khz / 24-bit. Converted to flac using sox. No processing or editing was performed for maximum flexibility nad retaiging highest quality. Also out of laziness. Enjoy!.

After many months- and a trip to san clemente, ca and back- my qu-bit nebulae v1 is working! this is a snippet from qu-bit’s own double bass sample, run through a mimeophon and qu-bit’s own fdn reverb, with lashings of modulation wherever possible. My wonder at the sheer madness of the sonic experience here is only matched by my joy at having a working granular processor at last.

I foudd this frequency, between 4450 and 4475 khz whilst going through channels on radiosdr. Org. It sounds a bit like a printer and then lower down sounds like a laser. Sorry for the sound of me pressing the keyboard, my laptop has an internal microphone so this was picked up.

A plate was placed on a table with a very small height gap so that it vibrated when flipped with a finger. Produces a sound similar to a ruler pushed down on a table, flipped and pulled onto the table. It's a bit difficult to describe but if you hear it, you see what i mean and i'm sure you've done it as well. . ;).

Recorded one wonderful morning at the shores of lake issyk kul, kyrgyzstan. Three hours from its capital bishkek,the lake with its little bit salty water and the mountainous landscape is a wonderful place to rest and relax. This is a slightly edited and normalised iphone recording of a lyrebird's performance at healesville sanctuary in victoria, australia and shows the range of sounds they can imitate. Among other copied bird calls you can hear a camera shutter and other harder to pick sounds that sound a little bit like lasers. It's pretty amazing what they can do!.

I started recording a vinyl lp into my computer before realising that i hadn’t set the anti-skate properly and the needle was stuck in the lead-in groove. I trimmed this bit of snap crackle n’ pop and kept it in the hope that it might be useful for me or anyone else. Have fun.

A plastic bag, paper wrapper and other materials were recorded individually being rubbed. I then layered them in audacity to be played over each other. From the resulting layered sound i generated this 10 second loop. Sounds like a mellow rain upon the ground or a slow crackling fire. A soundscape from my debut album, "summer crickets. . . " takes several field recordings of rural summer ambiance and mixes them with my own acoustic guitar strumming. I also mixed in some am radio vocal snippets, resulting in a unique ambient piece that relaxes and unsettles simultaneously. -recorded entirely with tascam dr-03 at 48 k / 24 bit.

Found this ancient mr. Coffee making these creepy sounds whilst brewing. I could get some decent "coffee brewing" sounds out of it, but the moaning and heavy breathing is what makes it. Recorded at high bit rate, so there's plenty there to manipulate into a sucking chest wound death rattle or whatever you're into. Rummaging through boxes with plastic bags, shoes and assorted styrofoam objects inside. I used 3 largish boxes and rummaged through them, making rustling, scraping and plastic noises, as well as through them around a bit to make it sound like someone searching through boxes. Use without having to give credit, but i would love a comment saying where you used this, and a link to the content if possible!.

This is a first attempt to record sound underwater, i build a small hydrophone according to the instruction gave us by digifishmusic, i could probably make it better but all considered i'm pleased whit it. The hydrophone was placed in a small river near where i live, just below the water surface but unfortunately it kept bouncing against the rocks so it's a bit noisy. Enjoy!.

This sound was from a live video feed on a social media broadcast. At some point the audio just got caught into a feedback loop that lasted for a bit. I thought it sounded interesting and saved it. Has kind of a laser or phaser cannon kind of thing going on. Perhaps an alert sound of some sort. Probably many possibilities for usage.
