This is an under water recording of some bubbles. I filled up a laundry bin with water, stuck a sennheisser md21 (dynamic omnimic) wrapped in a plastic bag in there (under the water level). I pumped bubbles from the bottom of the bin through a bicycle pump. Gear used: md21 -> m-audio dmp3 -> terratec ewx2496. Completely unprocessed, 2:43 of 24 bit 44khz wave. Typing (real words!) on a kinesis advantage keyboard with cherry mx brown mechanical switches. Recorded at my desk with rode procaster, triton fethead, focusrite scarlett 2i2 into audacity. Untreated room (hence dynamic mic) but noise remoived with audacity. I needed this for my own purposes so i thought i'd upload it. I hope someone finds it useful :).

While creating an ambient haunted house track, i created 4 slightly different versions of a grandfather clock chime by layering tube bells, hand bells, and a vibraphone at varying dynamics and articulations in musescore 2. 0. The chime rings at a b2. I obviously had a clock in mind when creating these sounds, but you could also use this as a singing bowl, a bell or gong, or as any number of sound effects.

A recording of dry leaves skittering across an asphalt parking lot around 2:00pm on a friday afternoon. I feel this recording captures the serene, but sad, sound of dry leaves in the fall being scattered about by a strong north wind. Recording made with the marantz pmd661-oade, and the incredible beyerdynamic me58 microphone. Since this particular microphone is a dynamic microphone, i had to crank my record gain up to 7. I was really happily surprised that the sometimes un-listenable wind-roar and wind rumble is barely noticeable on this recording. . . . . . Emjoy this autumn soundscape.

Mind the loudness and piercing frequencies. Feedback made using only a self-patched random*source serge triple+ waveshaper, or tws+. Recorded with and formatted with splices for use with the make noise morphagene, but can use for and with whatever of course. Warning that it's it's quite high pitched so you may need to pitch it down with the morphagene's pitch knob a good bit if you want it less harsh. I think i acidentally hit splice instead of record one time so there might be a random short splice somewhere, but maybe it adds some splice length dynamics. . .

One of a series of heavily processed recordings i made using a hikari monos cv. It's a small, highly tweakable synthesizer that's great for drones, resonant pings, and all manner of dynamic electronic sounds. Using s-layer, the sample-mangling plugin from twisted tools, i focused on generating short, punchy impulses that leaned into the resonant character of the original monos recordings. These sounds might be useful for ui buttons, as well as designing modern-retro sounds for games.

Your stereotypical wind chime sound effect. Used a lot for transitions into dream sequences and flashbacks in movies and films. I took a very fast recording of someone hitting some orchestral chimes, slowed it down by over 200% and added some harmonic excitement and equalization in post production. Tools used:- usb logitech microphone (no lies, seriously used this $10 mic)- fl studio 12 by image line- vitamin by waves- dynamic eq by izotop. This is a small jam i recorded myself on my diy spring reverb circuit i've built for a friend. It sounds really good with music. In this session, i've only used coninuous triangle/sine/square waveforms and jammed on my for pots: input gain,hp filter cutoff, feedback amount, output gain. I'm sorry if the recording clips sometimes, but there's a big dynamic so i couldnt see how much loud it was. Feel free to take it and use it for sampling or sound design layering.

This is a sci-fi ambient drone sound i made. It's creative commons cc0, so please treat it as public domain. You can use it in any commercial or non-commercial media for free, no restrictions. For those curious how i made this, i took a quick 8-second drum loop from my pocket operator po-33 (ko) and ran it through a free time-stretching/pitch-shifting program called akaizer. The program's based on old samplers like the akai s1000 that had extremely artifact-heavy time-stretching and pitch-shifting features. If you slow a sound down enough, the final product tends to sound harsh and electric. Akaizer turned my 8-second drum loop into 2 minutes and 38 seconds of harsh, bassy noise, pretty damn close to the final. Then i imported the file (we'll call it file a) into reaper, my daw. Track 1 has reaeq with a high-shelf acting like a low-pass. Its curve is set at 1386. 2 hz, gain at -inf, and bandwidth at 2. In retrospect, i have no idea why i didn't use a low-pass. Track 1 has a send to a blank track 2, which has a fab-filter pro-q 3 high-pass filter with a 12db slope. It's at 320. 57hz, q is 1. 096. After the eq, track 2 has valhalla shimmer set to the black hole preset with no changes. Track 3 is the default file a with valhalla shimmer on the black hole setting, but with two tweaks. Low-cut is at 30hz, high-cut is at 6630hz. Everything else is the same. That's followed by fab-filter pro-q 3 with these eq settings:-0. 72db at 69. 463hz, q at 1. 007. -1. 11db at 536. 64hz, q at 1. 013, dynamic eq (click "make dynamic" and leave everything as-is). The point of this dynamic eq is to give a slight drop in gain in the 500hz region, which tends to get muddy in larger mixes. I wasn't sure if i'd use this for a larger project, and i didn't want build-up in that region from the already large-sounding track 1 and 2. The ocassional eq drops here also adds a warble to the final mix that helps sell an analog, electrical sound. +0. 85db at 3697. 3hz, q at 1. 009. This is to add subtle airiness to the drone. It seems weird to have "airiness" in the 3-4k region, but it's the sort of rumbliness of the sound traveling away and dissipating in the atmosphere after the lowest drone sounds. My volume fader settings for all 3 tracks:. Track 1: -8. 59 dbtrack 2: -6. 46 dbtrack 3: -6. 43 db. On my master bus, i have izotope imager 9 with these settings:. Band 1: width at -100 (mono) for 59hz and below. Band 2: nothing at 60hz to 525hz (width at 0). Band 3: width at 48. 1 for 526 to 1. 4khz. Band 4: width at 49. 4 at 1. 4khz and above. Stereoize is set to 6. 4ms on mode i. And that's it! no compressors or limiters anywhere, since i liked how dynamic the actual tracks were and i figure you can always add your own compressor or limiter to the final if you want. I've also added the original po-33 drum loop on my page, as well as the loop after it was run through akaizer but before it hit reaper in case you want to do your own processing. Enjoy :).

With this module you can cv control the attack and decay. As oscillator i use intellijel μvcf in self-oscillation mode. I fm-modulate this filter/oscillator with a tone from uoki-toki polivoks vcf. The semi random trigger is really two triggers connected to an or gate. Pitch is from analogue systems rs-40 (sample/hold and noise). I can listen to this for a looong time. Retro sound.

This is not a complete composition. This is a loop i created for people who play d&d or any rpg or game thats similar. It will loop perfectly. It is not diverse enough in composition to be considered a finished track, nor is it dynamic enough to be a finished song, it is a 3 min 30 seconds loop with the midi used on 2 different synths so it doesn't get more boring than it already is. This is not a complete composition. It's a loop. Meant to be looped. I used 2 sounds, the tiger roar and thunder from two other users. They described it is okay to do so in their description. Sound transparency (first example on sound transparency and opacity). This sound sample is a companion to my talk and paper presented at foteo ("faire oeuvre, transparence et opacité") at université laval, visual art department, may 2008. The paper title is: "transparence sonore : acoustique physique; opacité sonore : un phénomène psychoacoustique; implications en création sonore". This nearly trivial example shows what i call "sound transparency". Since sound propagation is a linear phenomena, sound is transparent: the presence of a given sound (here a razor) does not modify the sound quality of an other sound (here a knife being rubbed). You can appreciate the sound quality, timbre, texture, dynamic of each sound even when an other one is present. The second part of the sample is the repetition of the first part, but the two sounds are presented on different channels.

This sample is a vocal "arh" sound, pitch d. It was created by singing "arh" into a dynamic microphone, with pop-screen and recording, through an e-mu 1820, into cakewalk music creator pro version 2. The sample was then roughly trimmed. The sample was then imported into wavelabs lite where the dc off set was removed, the sample was normalized and the trimmed exactly. This sample was then imported back into cakewalk music creator pro version 2, compressed slightly, then duplicated 5 times. Each of these duplications was given slightly different attack and release times, different pan and different eqs. 1 sample was given a multiple voice chorus\flanger effect and another auto-pan. A 6 sample was then added before the main sample, with reduced gain. This sample has increasing volume envelope and "moving" pan envelope. All 6 samples where sent to the same master out where "chapel" style re-verb and compression was applied. The mix down from this was then imported into wavelad lite, dc off set removed and normalized.

A recording of a manual typewriter. The author is inserting paper, typing a paragraph, and then removing the paper. Sound of paper being inserted into the typewriter using the paper platen winder. Then the sound of typing of about 50 words. A small bell sound is heard at the end of each line, then the sound of the platen being pushed back to start the next line, and the platen moving the paper up one line. The sample ends with the sound of the paper being wound through the typewriter and removed. I have tried to avoid clipping of each typed letter. There is a lot of percussive multi pitch sound in each typed letter. There is a mechanical escapement that provides a clicking sound as the platen is moved back for the next line. This sample was recorded direct to the hard drive of this samsung nc10 netbook using audacity set to 44. 1khz and 16 bit in mono. A dynamic microphone was used on a small desk stand about 1 foot (30cm) from the typewriter, the stand being on a different table to the one on which the typewriter was used. The microphone was a fairly cheap make (hitachi hmp606) and was pre-amplified using a maycom mictube preamplifier built into the xlr connector, connected to the mic in port of the samsung nc10 netbook. The mic boost was reduced to zero, and the gain of the maycom preamp was at its lowest setting.

. . Inside an intercity express (ice) between stuttgart and mannheim, sitting in an almost empty (three passengers) second-class broad-spaced compartment at around 9 pm. After a shaky first minute an even part follows for around 90 seconds. Interrupted by some road holes the steady sound continues, now with the frequency of the engine sound rising until the beginning of the fourth minute. Here the "main part" begins, starting with several moments of acceleration, deceleracion and breaking. From minute 5:15 to 7:35 the train reaches it's peak velocity, with only few bumps. After a short deceleration the train inceases velocity again, reaching a second peak, this time noticeably bumpier. Once in a while you can hear some element of the fitments rattling nervously along the track, depending on the constitution of the railways and the overall situation. During the last two minutes the train keeps on decelerating slowly and continuously until the end. Recorded in stereo with a portable stereo recorder (zoom); enhanced in audacity using a parallel dynamic eq (tdr nova), a compressor (vos density mkiii) and a binaural spacializer (auburn panagement).

This is a failed attempt at sampling a rock drumkit on 6 tracks. The channels are as follows:. 0: oh l1: oh r2: kick3: snare4: room l5: room r. I've captured this into ardour 5. 12 using 3 different audio interfaces:. Behringer umc202hd - overheads (dynamic mics)line 6 pod studio ux2 - kick and snare (condenser + dynamic)zoom h2 - room ambience (built-in xy condenser mics). This file is a 6-channel 24-bit flac file encoded using ffmpeg from the raw wav files exported from the original ardour session. There are several issues with this recording however:. 1. The tracks seem to drift, because the individual audio interface clocks were not in sync. The proper way to record multitrack audio is using a single multichannel audio interface - but i didn't have one. 2. There's either x-runs or some usb transfer issues creating small glitches and dropouts in various tracks her and there. Don't know why did this happen, as we've been tracking the real drummer's performance without these issues. Now - fixing these issues manually would be an insane amount of work, but i hope maybe someone has means to either solve them with programming a special tool, or know a tool that could fix these, and make this recorded session ready to be sliced as a drumkit for say - drumgizmo. There's some really good stuff in here - an i was able to cut and mix some really nice drum samples, that i've been using for years, but it's not ready to be fully sliced for maximum flixibility. The instrument was played by myself - it's a drumset by pearl (don't remember the details), owned by the drummer of a band i recorded this with. The band was called small hint - hence the drumkit name. We were recording an ep, and i used some free time left to capture this as well. The ep was never finished and we disbanded soon after. Regarding fixing the issues - here's what i think needs to be done:. 1. I think each hit would have to be automatically phase-aligned on all 6 channels, to correct for the drift. 2. I think it should be possible to automatically detect clicks by simply watching for a sudden change in amplitude between adjacent samples - marking bad areas and then using something like audacity's repair effect to interpolate the waveforms. I think the glitches have much steeper changes in amplitude than even the drum transients, so it should be possible to differentiate between those automatically. If you found a way to fix at least some of these problems - please let me know!. If you've made some "remixes" on freesound - i'd also love to know that. Apart from that - sample what you can out of this and make some sick drum tracks!.

I was just going through my sounds, when i decided "hey. . . I'm gonna release this. " so here you all go! i'm really proud of how this turned out. This, as you can tell, is a deep eerie ambience loop. It can be used for anything you want. I like to leave things up to the imagination of the audience. How it was made:. Software used:-fl studio 20-harmor-harmless-fruity parametric eq 2-valhallaroom. So basically what i did was get a low pitch sawtooth waveform, put it through some effects like harmonization, a low pass filter with high resonance, a phaser, and a load of distortion. The main synth is made with harmor. (yes, this is all one synth. It just has a lot of dynamics. ) i then processed it with some eqing. What made this sound what it is would be the reverb. I put 2 layers of valhallaroom on the synth. One has a very short decay time, and gives it texture. The other gives it the atmosphere. To add some more depth, for the final touch, i layered a sub-bass underneath it. Which is just a low sine-wave with reverb on it, which i used harmless to make. I hope you enjoy this!.

This is the soundscape i've recorded in my neighboorhood of cidade tiradentes, a district from são paulo, brazil. We name these events as pancadão (big punch) or fluxo (flow). When a flow occurs, you know that the sound is very high and it invades all surroundings. It happened in april 4, 2021, during our worst period in the the global covid-19 pandemic. Plent of people, vehicles, multiple speakers and so on in a street. I'm writing in the exact moment police came to repress, but in my conclusion only education can solve city problems, not repression, not paliative atitudes. I think this is interesting to share it here, as a cultural manifestation, showing that when the state fails, everyone fails. This is disrespectful at all, but i try to look it as a construction of city. In a country where its president goes for a for a swim at a crowded beach amid 200 thousand pandemic deaths, how can i criticize suburban people?. I'm not conservative, i like the kind of music playing known as"brazilian funk" or "funk carioca", this is our culture, even if i do not participate actively. This is the audible annunciation found at all intersections with traffic lights in paris, france. It announces the condition of the traffic lights for pedestrians who are blind or with impaired vision. The annunciation is turned on by pressing a button on the traffic light pole. When the crosswalk sign is red (do not cross), the recorded annunciation is always "rouge piéton" ("red light, pedestrian"), followed by the name of the street that the crosswalk crosses (in this case "rue d'antin," the quiet side street where i recorded this). This repeats over and over until the crosswalk changes to green, at which point there is a two-second trill tone followed by a repeating bell tone. The bell tone is one bell, followed by two bells, repeated four times, followed by a very brief pause, and then the sequence is repeated again. This continues until the crosswalk changes back to red, at which point the "rouge piéton" message resumes. The annunciation continues for at least one cycle of the traffic lights and then stops, unless the button is pressed again. The audio quality of the annunciation is very poor even in real life (it sounds like a wax cylinder recording or something), and can be difficult to understand. This recording accurately captures the poor quality of the annunciation. The volume of the annunciation is also adjusted dynamically based on ambient noise, so there is a slight change in volume on this recording as the system apparently reacts to noise from traffic or something. There is a weak background noise that sounds like some sort of machine, but it wasn't coming from the traffic light and i don't know the source. The recording starts with the crosswalk red, then at about 18. 3 seconds it changes to green, then it changes back to red at about 53 seconds. A car passes at around 48 seconds. Recorded with a zoom h4n, stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, built-in mics, from about ten inches below the tiny speaker in the crosswalk sign housing.
