Recorded about every sound you can get off a chinese guzheng, tuned in d pentatonic. Recorded with blue spark and blue bluebird condenser mics through a scarlett 6i6 interface. No credits necessary but i'd like to hear what you use it in!.

C major scale played on a martin sigma 6 string acoustic guitar with old steel strings using a seymour duncan soundhole pickup into a presonus audio box interface. Recorded at 120bpm in living room.

A low bass guitar note, played with a pencil as a percussion. It resembles the hit of the piano hammers on the strings. Recorded using a samson c02 pointing at the strings and a di box.

My daughter made an instrument some years ago. She took a small cardboard box and fixed some rubberbands with scotch on it, and this is how it sounded. She called it spelatronics. It no longer exists, unfortunately. But it can be remade.

This is a single guitar string plucked with a pick directly at the headstock, that means between the tuners and the nut. There the string is very short and tight, resulting in a high, almost piano-like tone. Also, since there is no sound box, the tone is rather quiet. I used this for a sampler and i liked the sound of it. This is the raw recording. If you want to use it in a sampler too, i recommend adding some eq, reverb and maybe some delay. It is not perfectly in tune though, the closest note is a#. You might tweak the tuning a little bit when using it in combination with other tuned instruments. Microphone: akg perception 120post-processing: none.

A kalimba\toy piano like sound obtained by stucking a piece of metallic string between the actual guitar strings (at the bridge), so having that typical short sustain; i've recorded using a di box and a samson co2 next to the guitar strings. Inspired by a youtube video by dan phelps.

In front of my desk in my room is a wood paneled wall with a cubbie. It's about a foot wide, 10 inches from top to bottom and maybe 7 inches deep. I'm just guessing. Around this cubbie is a border of wood. In the bottom right corner under the border i have jammed one end of an elastic string that used to have glitter on it. It's from a christmas box of chocolates my uncle sent me last year. I stand in front of this cubbie whose bottom is at chin height, (i'm only 5ft1in) so my arms are above my head as i pull this string across the cubbie up and to the left to the border on the top which acts as my only fret. The string is a few inches longer than the cubbie is wide, but when i pull it it gets longer so my hand is 3/4 along it's length as i pull back and forth across the border to tighten and loosen the string. No matter how hard i pull it never pops loose from it's mooring. This time the mic is sitting in the cubby so i get a much clearer and louder sound. When i stretch the string across the top it has a fairly long sustain, so i can play 4 notes on a single pluck.

In the first part until 01:54 i am playing the string at maybe 30° from horizontal. It has a buzzy quality that reminds me of an african folk instrument i can't remember the name of. From 01:33 to 01:54 i'm trying to imitate a korean folk vibrato kind of thing. In the second part until 02:29 i am playing 45 to 60° from horizontal and it sounds like a full-bodied string bass with no buzz. In the last part beginning at 02:34 i am playing about 75° from horizontal across the top border of the cubbie on the left so it sounds buzzy and african again, and i'm just going crazy goofing around with a crazy bluesy rock sort of rhythm. There didn't seem to be any homemade 1-stringed wall-cubbie basses on this site so here is mine, have fun. I don't play it if mom is home because the living room is on the other side of the wall and she can't hear tv. Also my neighbor can probably hear it in the next apartment lol. I took blimp66's "sad and silly vocal tune" and pitched shifted it a half step lower, and added danke's synth string pad loop, which i also had to lower the pitch on, all to make the perfect background music to mr. Lima "thethanx" brattleboro's poem "you are what you eat.
