The eerily quiet soundscape of a small midwestern town during the covid-19 shutdown. . . This was recorded in town, on a friday night (april 3rd, 2020) at a time when there is almost always more traffic, people and families walking and talking on the sidewalks. . This recording started at 11pm at night. . . What a strange, weird eerie feeling of this track. You will hear a lot of steady wind gusts, dry leaves being moved around by the strong southerly flow. . Equipment: sony pcm-m10 recorder sitting on a small tripod about 3 inches from the ground. . . I had to really crank up the gain on this one because everything was so quiet---almost as if the neighborhood was holding its breath. . . . Hope you enjoy this unique ambiance.

The doorbell in my apartment is so loud and obnoxious i decided to share my pain with the rest of the world, lol. In all seriousness, hopefully someone finds it useful for their production. The first sample is the purest, with the last two i *attempted* some dampening, but the difference is really inaudible. Recorded with zoom h6 (xy capsule), minimal processing done (loudness normalization, slight panning rebalance, hi-pass @ 40hz).

A large (12 person) elevator located in an apartment building that was built as a hotel for the 1972 olympic games in munich, germany. There are four of these in the building, and they all rattle like nobody's business. In this recording, a part of the elevator arrival chime that plays on the ground floor can be heard in the beginning. Then, i walk into the elevator (two clicks in the recording here) and the doors close. Then it travels up 12 floors and the doors open with a very concerning metal rubbing sound.

Wrote/recorded a short song about popping zits at 140 bpm in ableton live 9:kontakt player used for the formaggio string sections. My vocals were recorded with a akg 214c mic into a scarlett 18i20. Nothing fancy just get it down. Lyrics "get me now from the skin below, won't you help me out? i am stuck inside"then reverb added to vocals. The chimes of big ben first appeared on bbc radio at the very end of 1923 to announce the new year. In december 1948 this recording (catalogue number 825677) marked the 25th anniversary of big ben’s broadcasting career. Because the recording was made inside the tower there’s plenty of intriguing mechanical detail in addition to the tolling of the quarter bells and the 13-ton great bell. Hail comes inthis was a strange storm. Tons of lightning, but only distant thunder. The rain was nearly falling vertically. Audio description: may 20, 2014. Hail comes in and pounds a deck outside for about a minute or so, then fades and raindrops themselves take prominence. The wind picks up, so you can hear wind chimes going at it and some deep rolling thunder far in the background. If you’ve experienced high winds before, it will probably sound scary to you at volume. Recorded with a tascam dr-05 with a dead cat and no low cut. I got the mics as close to an open window as i could without being ridiculous. Cropped and faded in and out in audacity. No other modifications, so you’ll have to normalize it and equalize to your liking. Might be useful as a “heavy rain” sound, since the hail kind of sounds like that anyway.

Recorded on a small olympus device, set next to an open sleeve of stale saltines. You can hear her in the plastic packaging grabbing mouthfuls and chewing the crackers all up. She dips into the sleeve of crackers 3 or 4 times in this recording and smacks her chops after eating it all. Sorry about her collar chiming as dog's tags tend to, i just had to record that big mouthed crunch. I've removed the loud plastic rustling sounds, to focus more on the crunching sounds as she munches on snack crackers. Great for dog food or puppy chow commercials or for a film of a beast eating at charred crispy remains. As of this recording, i am the official town troubadour of manchester, ct, usa. I am just putting the finishing touches on an album collecting the various songs i have written for the town in this role. One of the songs mentions the church bells that ring out every day in at the top of the hill in town, so i thought it would be nice to open that song with a field recording of the bells. Every day at noon, center congregational church in manchester, ct, usa plays a full 10 minutes of music. This is a recording of the full 10 minutes as played on december 4th, 2022 - recorded with a zoom h1n, fades added in audacity. It was quite windy and despite my wind sock, there is the occasional audible gust. I was set away from direct traffic sound, but there is ambient traffic sound. There was also a church maintenance truck that slowly drove past me midway through the recording (probably curious at the strange person with the tripod recorder and headphones). I have not attempted to identify the songs in this recording. But if you recognize any, please let me know!.

I used audacity to synthesize the five-tone chime made by the montreal metro's jeumont train element 41. Backstory: the train itself was an mr-63 type train modified by canron circa 1971, adding a current chopper to the train's started system. The chopper produced an 'idle' tone at around 45 hz, and as the train departed, five tones at frequencies of 90, 120, 180, 240, and 360 hz. Originally there were 3 'elements' (a set of 2 motor cars and 1 trailer car) with the jeumont-schneider current chopper (element 40, made up of cars 81-579, 80-040, and 81-580; element 41, made up of cars 81-581, 80-041, and 81-582; and element 42, made up of cars 81-583, 80-042, and 81-584). During the early 2000s refurbishments, element 40 was retired from service to provide spare parts for the other elements, which were then connected with elements of 'normal' mr-63 trains. Only the 81-579 car remains from element 40. Element 41 and element 42 were then retired in 2018 when the other mr-63 trains were retired.
