Recording taken from a train at about 20 feet away. It was very windy, so consequently, the majority of the track was very much ruined. There is a small click near half-way, caused by a brief release of steam. It might prove annoying if you are planning on looping it. There is also not an even right/left balance throughout, due to my movement to avoid the wind.

Some sound i accidentally made while recording something with my webcam mic. If i recall this was a sound i made after sipping some water. However, because of my webcam mic's lo-fidelity, it ended up sounding like a great menu accept sound for a game.

This was a pretty hard work. I only use a triple osc and i took an advantage of the several asio bugs of my soundcard. I don't mix the sound. I've re-recorded that shape 15 times, after that, i applied massive echo and reverb filters. 3 osc, echo, reverb, compressor.

Useful as electrical switch click. 96 khz, 32-bit float. Tlm-103 mic straight into pro tools. The only processing is a mild gate. At least it has a good noise floor.

I cut a few short clips from some of my projects to submit to a project that i had seen on the. Microsound mailing list. A grey squirrel at the edge of a wood seemed quite upset and repeated called for about 5 minutes. I recorded the end of its calling. It is also my first attempt at recording sound with my camera (canon eos 550d). There turned out to be a fan noise with a slight clicking. I ran noise reduction in audacity to remove it and to help reduce the sound of traffic.

This was recorded by holding a small pcm recorder (zoom h1n) very close to an ipod 4th generation. The ipod was turned on and its hard drive tried to start up. You can hear the spin up of the motor and the hard drive head clicking back and forth. The hard drive fails to power up completely and eventually shuts down again. A 350 hz high pass filter was applied, in addition to audacity noise reduction, to get this clean motor noise from the original recording. The stereo file was then mixed to mono because the mic was slightly off center from the ipod, and the stereo provides no benefit. The hard drive in this ipod is a 1. 8" 40 gb toshiba hard drive, the ipod model is a1059. The microphone was held just 3 cm (1. 2 in) from the ipod. Recording settings were stereo 44. 1 khz at 16 bit (wav format). The file is the same except it's mono.

I took this sample from a phone message. I did use a live feed,(from the headset output on my phone, through a cable into my digital recorder. ) but it is very soft. When i tried recording with out the live feed, i couldn't even find the noise again. It could definitely use to be amped up a bit.

I created a click track and got rid out the last two beats of each bar. I shortened the spaces between the first two beats of every bar. I then added a reverb effect and created another layer of brownian noise to even out the silence. Kick sound created in fl studio using a reggae kick sound played both dry and using a denise punisher free distortion vst and then layered with a pure click from fl studio. This is a knife i use often at my workplace cutting different materials. It’s called an ofla knife- they’re pretty small and can retract and come back out again with a drag of a switch. This is me dragging that switch up and down, slowly for each individual tick and then all at once. I know in this recording the background isn’t completely silent, i’ll try to reupload a recording when it is at some point.

I accidentally sneezed while testing audio levels but it happened to be self-contained with the right volume for an isolated sound effect! recorded on my new blue yeti nano with noise reduction applied. This underwater breathing was created in audacity. To create this sound i generated 2 tracks rhythms on 2 different mono tracks. For the breathing i created a rhythm "click noise" and added the effect "paulstrech". I deleted some moments of silences. I tried to simulate a heartbeat. Inspired by ben croshaw's point 'n' click horror adventure games, i decided i'd try and see if i can make my own creepy whispers using audacity. This is basically some whispered lines and some really low-volume screams superimposed on one another, with some of these lines reversed. A sound of a tightening wrench (a bike repair kit) being spun around to produce its distinct ratchet like sounds. Foley fun: put to 25% of its rate and you get convincing metallic gear sounds, apply a tiny bit of reverb, maybe layer it with some screeching sounds from other users (or me, your choice) or a slow gate shutter to get a nice mechanical door opening sample.

This is static actually coming from my radio but its plugged into the same cord as my tv & they are very close together. So it's actually interference. Also the proximity of my phone gives more sound (ringy static). That really awesome modulating sound is the moment between clicking the on button & the picture coming on the screen. 2nd try was better after i adjusted the tuner a bit.
