23rd july 2016 thunderstorm in pécel, hungary. My sony icd-ux512 dictaphone was under an experimental place, under a tree branch. This storm produced 10 milimeters of rain.

Thunder strike for the master degree in video games of university of málaga (uma). There is a rainy ambience filtered with a hpf before the thunder sound. For the thunder there are 3 parts: a metallic whoosh, the impact and a shock wave.

Also raintrops from trees and a nearby house and a short time with a cat meow. A steam is some meters in the back. Recorded with the mixpre-3 from sound devices and the sennheiser mkh 8020 stereo pair in a special ortf setup. Very natural an warm sound.

The recording was made from a small kitchen measuring 3mx2. 5m during a heavy downpour outside the window with thunderclaps. Gradually the rain gets quieter. Recorded with rode tng-2 microphone and zoom h6 recorder.

This storm came thru this morning and i recorded it on my zoom h6 using the built in mics. There are some good rumbles of thunder in this recording.

Rain and thunder recorded in hq stereo. This was recorded at night in norway during a rain storm with a zoom h2n handy recorder.

A light thunderstorm in carrboro, nc. Not too much wind or heavy rain, but some very good thunder claps. As the thunder slowly fades away, some distant traffic and a siren can be heard. Recorded on a zoom h2. This was uploaded as vorbis instead of flac or wav because it's quite long but i thought people might find it useful to have the whole thing. Some intelligent de-clipping was also performed in audacity to remove some slight distortion from the loudest claps.

This ambience was recorded on zoom h6 with msh-6 mid-side stereo mic capsule. Recording was edited and decoded. Mic was positioned right in a frame of an open window so that it won't get flood from a heavy rain and pick up much room reflections. My flat where i recorded from was on 4th floor. There was a busy street 50m far from the apartment building itself, a bit further there was a park. Rain at that night was heavy. Also you can hear several heavy thunder hits of various distance throughout the whole recording. Hope this recording will help to enhance the sound of your next project. Early spring thunderstorm in north central oklahoma recorded on 05/02/2018 starting at about 9:30 pm cdt. Recorded in the middle of the country by placing a mic outside the man cave window of my house. The storm starts with light rain and some medium distance thunder. At about 4:00 mins the wind starts to pick up and by 5 mins the wind sound drowns out everything else (50-60 mph gusts). By 6:00 mins the wind is fading as the storm front passes. By 9:00 mins it’s just soft rain and occasional thunder. At about 13:00 mins, the thunder starts picking up a bit. At about 17:00 mins it starts raining harder again, with occasional thunder, until the end. A couple of human noises were edited out, and noise reduction was applied.

22 minutes stereo recording of a thunder-storm including 3 major strikes at 0:15, 15:00, and 21:00. Rain in the background. Digitally recorded as 48khz-24bit-wav (device: zoom h4). Normalized +5db, then down-sampled to 44khz/16bit. This is the ogg vorbis file (q: 60%). There is also a flac version (lossless 100mb).

Recorded from my balcony. This is in a relatively quiet neighborhood. The loud tapping noise is the raindrops falling on the plastic shade of my balcony.

I placed my recorder on my window sill as this thunderstorm was raging outside. The sounds of torrential rain, thunder, and a dog barking in a distance. If you used this sound and would like to credit me, i would be honored, if not, that is fine as well. Hope this helps in anyway.

Mono recording with rode nt1000. It's done indoors, by the window, with the window open, pointing outside. In the first plane you'll have birds (portugal), then mild rain and some far away thunder. Some thunders are closer, pretty clear and loud. Be ware for some of my movement sounds, you may need to edit.
