Indian hand pumps are manually operated water pumps that are commonly used in rural areas of india. When i recorded the pump is in operation, you may hear the rhythmic sound of the handle being moved up and down, as well as the sound of water being sucked up from the ground and pushed up through the riser pipe and in addition to the sounds of the pump itself, you may also hear other ambient sounds in the village, such as the chatter of people going about their daily activities, the sounds of animals.

Recorded binaurally using sound professionals ms-tfb-2 binaural microphone headset, 12vdc battery box, sound devices mixpre-6 at 24/192. Postprocessing: digital gain, downsampled to 16/48. Flac: encoded. The rock formations here play appealing tricks with the sound of the running and falling stream. Facing out over falls dropoff, vaguely. A lot of digital gain (+30db?) was applied in postprocessing. The analog preamp was originally set to +21db on the aux-in (ch5/6) input, but this may not have been the optimal gain staging. This is a recording of buttsbury wash, which goes across a small road in essex, uk. At about 1:15 a car can be heard going through the water. The water is quite deep and the car stalled after it got to the other side, though managed to restart. The recording was made with a sennheiser m6/k6 attached to a zoom h5. Minimal editing with audacity.

Recording of a fairly boisterous stream near my house. It has a lot of motion due to the fact that a branch was caught on the bank of the stream which was being pulled about in different directions resulting in different rates of flow and a varying sound. Some light wind at a couple of points, should be fairly easily edited/eq'd out. Recorded with a rode ntg-2 and zoom h2. Please let me know what you use it for!.
