I tied an olympus ls-5 recorder high in a tree and left it for half an hour. There are still quite a few people around and you can hear their voices alongside the birds which are getting ready to roost.

Mono recording with rode nt1000. It's done indoors, by the window, with the window open, pointing outside. In the first plane you'll have birds (portugal), then mild rain and some far away thunder. Some thunders are closer, pretty clear and loud. Be ware for some of my movement sounds, you may need to edit.

This is a crusty old tape i found. Field recordings possibly made maybe in the 70's or 80's. The end of the tape is weird i think he recorded a dog panting or maybe its a cat purring but has slowed it down. It sounds cool and i always wanted to use it for something but never quite managed to make it fit.

Birds tweeting in the garden with sound of freeway (highway) behind. Traffic noises include hum, cars, and trucks. Occasional use of exhaust braking. Birds are in the garden chirping and tweeting. Useful for a urban garden or other similar scenario. Two microphone setup, both are shure sm57s. Placed on two stands, one channel is nearer to freeway, the other is nearer to garden. Recorded with a behringer umc202hd at 192khz and downsampled to 48khz for upload. No other post-processing.

High above our heads and the less pleasant layers of car traffic, budgies tweet and chirp and chitter. Nestling in the crowns of pine trees in various parks across the eu capital, they add a subtropical flavor to brussels' diverse soundscape. Just as most of the city's inhabitants, the ring-necked, alexandrine and quaker parrots came from a different place. Having escaped a zoo exhibit many years ago, they've been eking out a living, adapting to the tempered climate and found themselves a new home. As urban animals they contribute to brussels' exceptional cosmopolitan vibe. (recorded in the park of forest).

Sound forest.

This sounds as if it were staged by hollywood, but it actually did happen, i swear! birds chirp away to set the scene, but a beefy thunder roll intrudes. Soon after, raindrops begin to fall as if on cue. Theres a little handling noise click in the begining that is easy to crop out if you like. The recording is unedited. At 1:35 i move the mics closer to the deck so you can hear the splashing. At about at 3:10 i you’ll hear a different timbre as i move away from the rain and under an awning. About 3:45 the rain settles down and the birds start chirping again. Hopefully there are some useful segments in here. Recorded with a dead cat on a tascam dr-05 at 48khz 24 bit, then compressed with “lame --preset insane --scale 10” to make up for the low gain i used (i was afraid a thunderclap would engage the limiter). A recording i took from a local bird shop in tokyo.

Well, i was walking aloong in the riparian forest in leipzig, where you have to cross a small bridge. There is often a guy feeding te ducks. I was there with my mic in the backpack and asked him if he could continue to feed the ducks while i could place the mic in the middle of the feeding spot. At first the ducks were scared because of this strange microphon standing there. So i put some autumn leafs on it to camouflage it. So, this worked and the ducks started to walk around the mic and eat the bread. What you can hear ist the giggling of the mallards and the sonourus sound of the mandarin ducks. Also you have quite the rush of a near located highway in the back :-/ i had to cut a little bit, because the "duck man" was talking along and some passers-by, but i wanted to keep it clean from human voices. Thats also wy the duck take of in the middle is cutted off. But in the end you will have a clear complete take off again :-). Greetings and all the best.

H1 zoom. There is an intersection in hua hin where the birds sit on the wires over the main road and just make constant loud noise for hours.

A recording in the midwestern forest made on sunday september 27th, 2015 around 3:00pm in early autumn. At this time of the year a lot of the summer neo-tropical migrant songbirds either have left for their winter home, or, are quieting down and preparing to leave. During this transition period in early fall the woods are not as loud as, say, three weeks ago. Even the insects seem subdued. At around 12 seconds into this recording you hear the squeaky call of a tree-frog. Recording made with marantz pmd661 and two sennheiser me-66 microphones mounted on a tripod about 4 feet above the ground.
