The beautiful, pleasant sound of the creek dropping over a small sandstone rock provides a nice background to the very "happy-to-be-here" louisiana waterthrush. The birds have returned, and spring is on its way. . . The annual re-birth in the forests of southern illinois. Equipment used:zoom f4 field recordersennheiser mkh-416 shotgun microphone.

Very strong sounding grasshopper. When i rode home from work at 11 a. M. I heard a strong sounding grasshopper in a neighbor's busch i run into my house and picked up my recorder and mic and run out tried coming closest possible for good sound, but it was a little too close because the hopper become silent. This is a crusty old tape i found. Field recordings possibly made maybe in the 70's or 80's. The end of the tape is weird i think he recorded a dog panting or maybe its a cat purring but has slowed it down. It sounds cool and i always wanted to use it for something but never quite managed to make it fit.

A beautiful, ancient sound of a small creek flowing in a heavy midwestern forestafter a late autumn day of rain. (recorded on sunday november 30th, 2019)this particular " scene " is the result of a 2 inch deep flow of water suddenly dropping over several medium-sized old rocks. In a few days, this flow will cease and the creek-bed will revert back to its typical, meandering , dry rocky path through the woods. Enjoy. The peaceful natural recording was made in early march of 2012 in woods bordering a lake. Even though it was late-winter/early spring and was cold -- about 38 degrees -- it was not totally still. These tufted titmice and song sparrows were actively singing as if to say "hey, winter's almost gone, get ready for spring. "recorded onto a zoom h4n recorder using a rode nt-g2 shotgun microphone mounted inside a parabolic dish.
