I picked up a home-grade reel to reel machine at a thrift store and and this is the tape which was in it. A father sends messages from home to his son in the u. S. Navy during the vietnam war, including fatherly advice about cars and shopping overseas and anxiously awaiting his sons return. He provides sample fodder at 14:19 about musical gear lust and otherwise provides an insight to the times. Basically its a synthesized snare bottom, with a real clap layered with a white noise burst, eq'd and also filtered with what i can only really call "parallel- saturation. ".

Made a snare, then totally twisted it. All this done in fl studio. Took a lot of tinkering in a certain newtone program to make this sound. Enjoy!.

I ripped duct tape in front of a digital hand recorder. This sound was recorded september 4th 2014 in a room at hume lake christian camps in hume, ca and has only been trimmed in audacity. No other editing was done.
