En las parrandas usan como parte de la percusión menor, el chapero un instrumento fabricado de con chapas de metal fijados con clavos en un trozo de madera. Se toca golpeando el chapero con las manos como se hace con la pandereta. Este sonido fue grabado como parte de una entrevista realizada a rafael rondón, director del grupo "el valle".
