I set out to record new year's eve fireworks, but didn't anticipate the dog going so crazy. It's not a great recording, because of the dog and its owner yelling, but it has moments. Recorded with: audio technica bp4025, sound devices 702t.

Here is the sound of a 50-caliber barrett rifle being fired. You'll first hear the sound of the bolt being pulled back. Really cool sound if you can listen on some nice big speakers. Recorded with my handy zoom h4n using a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone. I was standing about 20 feet from the rifle, and i still have the input gain turned way down to about 30, just to make sure the circuitry was not overloaded. Also, since this was in a big, wide-open field, you get a nice echo.

Recorded just after the clock struck midnight, signaling the beginning of 2023 in greenville, south carolina with a tascam dr-05 stereo recorder. Very nice clear recording with basically zero unwanted noises except for an occasional light water drip. Audio edited to perfection by me. ;) did some light eq, compression, limiting, and stereo balancing, as well as removing some of the constant ambient white noise hiss. A semi-automatic rifle, pitched down 3 semi-tones. Made in bitwig, i used 10 different recorded gunshot layers that have been eq'ed and multiband compressed to form a new gun sound. Subbass was synthesized for the super low end. The process i use is to select frequencies using high pass and lowpass filters from a recording for the lows, mids and highs. This forms a "layered sound".

I wanted to make a sound effect for a game i'm developing, and so i recorded a 100-mm artillery cannon at camp williams (utah national guard), then modified the sounds using audacity. The recording was done on an olympus digital recorder in the mid-2000s (first decade). It sounded a little to me like the tribute cannon from hunger games (the sound effect that signals the deaths of the tributes), thus the name.

Where we live the fireworks laws are pretty lax so people go crazy with them. Here is a recording from the day before independence day (yesterday) as people were blowing up part of their arsenal ahead of time. In a few hours i will be recording as things get really crazy. Our neighbors on three sides will light off the thousands of dollars of fireworks that they have purchased. Many of them are illegal (purchased from indian reservations) so there will be some big booms. Back to this recording. This is a mix of deep boom sounds i mixed together. Probably like 30 or more sounds to get just what i wanted, even my own voice mixed in there somewhere. Figured others might find this useful. Might as well say what i used this for. So in making a big huge video for my family, where i've filmed them doing certain things and not tell them why, to which i'll present the video when we all get together for christmas eve, 2019. Theres also a part where i hosted a picnic, filmed everyone, and then asked them to karate chop or kick towards the camera. The next day i went with a crew and filmed ninjas around the park. Edited together with the family attacking the ninjas then the ninjas falling back and exploding with a particle effect on after effects. This is the main sound heard when that happens.
