Fireworks- recording fireworks is really strange. There are two distinct things going on with fireworks- the sound of the explosion, and the powerful physical impact our bodies feel when all that sound energy reaches us. Thing is, the mics don’t have any way of capturing that physical impact; they can only record the pop sound of the initial explosion. So what ends up on tape? honestly, it doesn’t sound much different than popping popcorn in your kitchen. Even with my good mics, i think i had to boost the low end a little bit in this recording to make it actually sound more like fireworks than popcorn. But judge for yourself. Urban residential fireworks, echo as sound waves reflect off houses, pretty close bangs. Toronto.

A long bomb noise. . . Sounds sort of like a nuke i guess, even has debris falling afterwards. Made by popping a little trick noisemaker by the mic and slowing it down.

Recorded for a musical with children with 2 x schoeps mk 20 in a small ab. Additional a tlm102 close to the bottom of the bomb fur the fuse. With some room on the "explosion"this is not the whole recording. It is cutted after the "explosion". Look or tischbombe_3 if you will hear the things falling down as well.

This is a long recording taken in the backyard of my neighborhood on july 4, 2021. There are lots of distant (and a few closer) booms and explosion sounds. Kind of sounds like a war going on! in this longer recording a plane also flies overhead, and someone drives down the street.
