I recorded this on sept. 7th, 2013 in enumclaw, wa. We don't get many thunderstorms here and this one was a doozy. I used a yamaha pocketrak recorder and edited with sony sound forge. Please comment on what you will use it for. Thanks :o).

Falling rain, some parts have clos ups from water pouring on to sewage.

I set my mics up just in time to catch this loud thunder crash during a recording session. I aimed a stereo-matched pair of akg 451s out the window in an x-y configuration and ran them into a universal audio 2-610 preamp. There are no effects at all.

Thunder storm. Starts with a burst of thunder followed by rain. Recorded on the isle of wight, england with zoom h4.

Created for the play 'exit the king' (wilbury group, 2011). A expressionistic storm, with walls crumbling down in slow motion. I made this by tearing wood and plastic apart and slowing down the sounds and adding percussion. The rain i recorded out my window.

Vancouver was experiencing a thunderstorm as i got home, and i immediately went to set up a microphone next to my bedroom window to record it. Tried to make it louder and better in audacity. Recorded july 25, 2009.

Thunderstorm with rain in the netherlands.

Bad windstorm was came to pécel, hungary on 31st march 2012. I recorded some sounds caused by the wind, for example door shutting, trees whizzing, etc. I used sony stereo dictaphone, 44100 khz, 16 bits, stereo. I tried to minimize the rumbling sounds.

Wind storm.

Wind noise, made from several segments of white noise with different eq and flange settings, cross-faded to form one long loop. Recording of a thunderstorm rumbling overhead. The thunder echoes through the hills and is more or less continuous. A large clap of thunder does cause momentary clipping. After the heavy rain, bird calls can be heard.

Huge thunder clap, recorded in my garage with a netbook and yeti mic during a storm. One of those thunders where the flash and the sound are simultaneous. I had to edit out my "holy s**t" reaction.

A storm was brewing, you can hear the wind and some chimes. I added some filter effects toward the end.

I created this using digital synthesizers. I lost the presets to this so i can't say exactly how it was created, but eventually i'll create a new version and describe the process. It's basically multiple layers of very grainy (like sparklers or vinyl) noise processed through filters modulated by some kind of noise.
