This is simportant because it gives this particular train a distinctive acoustical fingerprint: you can hear engine bursts (a bit like a bus hitting the gas) no electrical train does that. . . This is a good recording although:i was glad to find a place to record a passing train without any kind of other disturbing noise and people! but i was really p. . . Off when right after the train passed an older guy with his bicycle stopped right beside me (you can hear him braking and stopping) "are you recording?" - "no, i´m just here planning a train robbery. . . ". .

I recorded one usable minute of passing train, moving slowly through town. I thought the local engine served just one customer, a major metal scrap yard, but the half-dozen box cars on this engine don't fit that model. Considering the overall decrepit condition of american railways, this one isn't bad.
