Another recording from last night's rainstorm. This one i took in my doorway, as opposed to outside at the mercy of the elements. Brr. No reverb here; just the raw sound. Enjoy! i appreciate feedback always.

My first upload to freesound is a thunderstorm recorded in gateshead, uk, next to our open bathroom window. Some lovely thunderclaps and rain. Recorded on a zoom h5. There are also some household sounds swimming around in the background, doors closing, dishes clinking etc; i think you can hear the radio or something very faintly towards the end -- but there's plenty of clean usable thunder and rain in there. Incidentally i often use this type of thing in my long-form instrumental music, produced under the name conelrad. I have a podcast of album-length instrumental music which comes out every other week, called conelcast. Check it out wherever you get podcasts or at conelrad. Co. Early morning, crossing the bay of biscay in a force ten gale, the whole cabin (high up in the ship) creates a symphony of sounds. Engine noise in the background, plus a cacophony of different stresses on the woodwork and fittings of the cabin.

Low rumble, could resemble thunder in the distance or low frequency rumble. More sounds like this on wavjunction. Com.

A strong rainshower hitting an awning, with the gentle "shhhhhh. . . . " of the rain falling on the new, fresh green, pliable leaves of a sugar maple. Some good thunder as well in this recording. Brief recording of a bit of heavy rain. Recorded with zoom h4n on-board stereo mics.

I'm attempting to create a controllable thunderstorm for a film, and this is my first legitimate attempt. This recording consists of 4 samples of rain, and another 3 samples of rain+thunder that i recorded one afternoon. Equipment used was the inbuilt mics on a roland r-26, and a sennheiser me66 into a sound devices 702. The clips were recorded at 96khz/24-bit, and they were processed at 48khz/24-bit. For processing, i put the samples into kyma, and crossfaded for texture. The howling wind sound is an analog-style low pass filter's frequency, level, and resonance being controlled by a wacom intuos4 pen/tablet. The rain slowly swells, which was done by changing parameters of a granular reverb. The thunder was also controlled by the wacom tablet, with x, y, and z (pressure) dimensions mapped to making the thunder swell in level, density, and texture. This could have been output in surround, but i don't have that many monitors ;). This style of "rain-synthesis" can also go on indefinitely. Please let me know what you think of the quality of this track; eg, if it sounds real, if the wind sounds ridiculous, too much thunder, etc. Use this sound (wherever) if you want to, or let me know if you'd like an mp3 of this, or for it to last longer. 5th of august 2015 distant thunderstorm thunder sounds in pécel, hungary, recorded by sony stereo dictaphone. It produced insignificant amount of rain.

Wind of 40 to 70 k/h (24 to 44 mph) blowing inside a shack. Can be edited to make scary sounds.

A recording of a thunderstorm using my zoom h4n from my front porch. The clip starts toward the tail end of the storm, and the thunder and rain slows down throughout. Starting in the middle and towards the end of the clip, there's even some birds and forest frogs in the background. A few cars drove past, and they can be heard as well.
