They were mixed all together and edited using lots of vst effects and software, reversed many times and mixed again, sampled in lo-fi quality and then again and again. . 24/48 mono recording of the sound of a fnx. 45 acp being shot slowly in a gun range 9 times. During the recording there are a couple shell casing that can be heard hitting the floor. There is a long break after the final shot before the target is recalled on the automatic rail system. There is a slightly echo-y natural reverberation to the gun range. Other than that the recording is very quiet in-between shots and each shot sound was allowed to dissipate before another round was fired.

Wrote/recorded short daft punk style tune at 100 bpm in ableton live 9:muugy for synth sound. Analogue bass + bit growl for bass sound. Kontakt 5 for the string sound. Created using lmms ( linux multimedia studio ). Here i have used zynaddsubfx for the hoover type sound and 3 instances of glitch2 vst on the drum loop that i created. There is some compression, stereo widening and side-chaining used also. ( i used a higher resolution samplerate to export this file, which created a further glitch effect on the glitch2 vst,i believe it is maybe hardcoded to 41000hz or perhaps lmms can't handle higher sample rates on vst plugins ).

Ambient echo sound. This sound required the combination of operator using the triangle wave and plenty of reverb. I layered this sound by using two different octaves to cover most frequency ranges that sounded best and to fill any gaps in the sound effect. This sound is inspired by scene transitions and wide shots where there may be a lack of other sounds so this frees up a space for a calm ambient sound that uses plenty of sustain and reverb. The triangle wave in the operator gave it more of a high pitched calm flowing sound. The other options for example sine wave sounds to harsh and sharp for this type of sound.

In my quest for that perfect sound that i'm looking for, i ended with something that doesn't quite fit the bill. Never the less, i think it has potential in the right hands. I am playing a 9ft long log of ash wood (fraxinus excelsior) that i cut in half and hollowed out then stuck back together 15 years ago. Recorded the sounds with a zoom h1n in my apartment. Snare is a flick with my fingers on a wooden door + added snarebuzz in post production to it, kick is a hit with my hand on the wall produced some nice lows. I had to create an another track for just the transient, but essentially made from the same sound. Hihat is the stove's clicking sound with added reverb. I wanted to find a good creative commons 0 sound effect of fingernails scratching on a wooden surface but i could find the exact thing i was looking for. So i recorded myself scratching my bedroom door with my fingernails using a recording app on my phone and edited it in audacity to remove breathing sounds, and to make the sound feel more heavy/deep, including some very faint reverb. Since i really wanted this i thought it might be useful for someone else! i hope someone else out there like me finds this somewhat useful. This is a short wavefile of really bad drums and a crying baby. To be used properly, it needs to be turned way up. This sound has a story behind it - i made this up for one purpose, and one purpose only - to temporarily blast my long-term loud neighbors into realizing that 'they' are now the victims. They "were" relentless at playing loud music continuously, and it was a hot humid day,no air-con, and i had a lot of wine. That's all it took - so i blasted them(at an amazing close range)with 200+ watts of drums'n'babies, just long enough for them to figure out that this just might continue, and that it isn't a nice sound. Bottom line - the technique was highly effective.
