This is a sampling of my washing machine when the spin cycle end. Processed thru grain sample manipulator in reason with reverb and delay.

Filling up beans in the grinder, grinding 18 grams of coffee, tamp it. Then i preheat the cup, flush before adding the portafilter and extracting, brewing the double espresso, while foaming some oat milk. Checking that there are no bubbles in the oat milk and then pouring a slowsetta pattern into the cup. Machine: bezzera bz10grinder: eureka mignon.

Looking at the spectrogram waveform display of https://freesound. Org/people/ivolipa/sounds/344948/ i noticed a few patterns. Distinct bands of high volume at around ~600hz, ~1200hz, ~1800hz, the fade in volume toward higher frequencies, a ubiquitous noise, and the soft staccato rhythm. Using these facts, i tried to make yet another engine sound with fm-synthesis. Sound forge 7 — to my knowledge — lacking a spectrogram, i've no clue if this was a successful attempt, but it does have a vaguely engine-like sound.

This is a sound recorded with a handcrafted electromagnetic microphone. The machine recorded is used for computation tasks at cbc (upf) for their experiments on brain cognition. 4ch-surround field recording of a tv editing suite with all machines running. Very useful as a neutral backdrop for any kind of motion picture or radio play requiring an "techy" feel to the atmosphere. Recorded with a zoom h2, these are the rear channels, mics set to 120° dispersion.
