This is a field-recording of besançon, saint claude's district, in france. You can hear the church ringing the sunday morning's bell. Taken out of my window with a shure ksm27 on a sound boom + art tube mp project series usb. This is my first contribution in the freesound project, to thanks everyone here for sharing amazing sounds. Hope you like mine.

Bell tower of the basilica of the national shrine of the immaculate conception. Recorded on the catholic university of america campus with a zoom h2 in four channel surround mode. The front mikes faced the basilica. The rear mikes were fairly close to a building and captured an off axis recording of the original peals while the reflection off the building was on axis and is louder than the original peal. The two files can be combined for a surround image.

I was in the church of angoulème (f) when to my delight organ practise begun. Quality is not extremely good but the ambience is nicely catched imho. Anyone who knows the organ work, i'd like to know!.

A strange door opens and closes, a ring sounds (the saint peter's office?), whispered voices, steps, echoed little noises. Registration made into an empty big church, with very few people praying and some maintenance operations. Equipment used: sony icd-sx800d, external microphone rode ntg-2.

Recorded on 21/02/2010 at approx. 9am standing next to the grossmunster church in zurich, switzerland. Recorded with a zoom h2 in 2-channel surround mode, with a windshield (but unfortunately there is still a bit of wind noise towards the end when the police siren starts). This is a recording, made 2022 june 14, of the hubbub of sound inside the nave with multi-lingual tourists milling about, taking selfies, and gazing upward in awe.
