This sound field recording was made back in 2000 on a very late/early morning. I placed the sony microphone ontop of the car outside to record the crickets and cicadas. There were a lot of mosquitos out that hot night. One of them landed on the mic and actually bit the microphone. You have to listen close but the bug bites at about 14:28 and removes the mosquito blood sucker at about 34:28. Recorded around midnight in mount saint francis woods in southern indiana on the kentucky border on a dr70r with shotgun mic. Not loopable as the wind picks up over time and is noticeable when you loop back to beginning. Light editing in reaper (eq down some wind sounds, splicing out distant traffic). Individual bullfrog chatter sounds also on profile.

Thunderstorm recorded in essex, uk. Not far from an estuary so there are wading birds escaping the storm overhead. I have edited together the best bits of the storm with a fluctuation of rain intensity and frequent thunder rolls. Recorded with a zoom h6 msh-6 stereo mic.
Stereo ambience of people passing by at the kulturforum in berlin. This is a large open concrete space next to the berlin philharmonic hall. It's a warm summer evening and the berlin philharmonics have just finished an open air concert. The recording starts about 15 minutes after the end of the concert while everyone is leaving the place, maybe about 1000-1500 people. The crowd is generally in a happy and talkative mood. There are lots of international folks and tourists, so you'll not only hear german, but also english and lots of other languages. After six minutes or so there is also a police siren in the background. Recorded with a zoom h6 (xy mics). A boardwalk along the river in the middle of a big city. Streets are noisy and crowded, but once you step onto the riverside boardwalk, you can enjoy calm, peaceful atmosphere. At825 and sony md walkman.

This recording, unlike my previous insect recordings, was taken in an actual forrest on south mountain reservation, millburn nj (as opposed to my backyard). There is a distant airplane in the background (south mountain is near newark airport) but otherwise its much cleaner than my previous recordings, pretty much isolating the patch of crickets. ---two primo em172 capsules -> zoom h1.
A 7 minute continuous clip of birds in my backyard. 24 bit 48khz recorded with a sound devices 552 and a matched stereo pair of akg c451b's. There are times where the wind distorts the recording - it was unavoidable even though i did have wind screens on the mics. Hopefully you can cut and paste. Enjoy. . . Peace!.
