Because of the covid-19 shutdown, the background noise of cars was almost nonexistent. An up-close recording of a single cricket chirping. I recorded this with a shure beta 57a microphone, at my house, with the mic a few inches away from one of my housemate's crickets (don't ask). I used cubase and izotope denoise to remove noise artifacts, as well as a low-cut to remove unwanted low freqs. Recorded in mono but exported in stereo, so both the left and right audio channels are the same.

Sometimes you really need to get away to peace & quiet. This recording, made with my handy zoom h4-n and its built-in stereo microphones, was made in perhaps the quietest time of the morning -- that magical time between 3am and 4:30am when the birds even are still asleep. Made in a backyard of a town of about 7-thousand people.

First, i thought it was a night-bird but i could not identify it clearly and i never heard an owl shouting like that. Then i understood why when i found on internet a sample exactly like mine. . . Now i know it was a barking roe deer (capreolus capreolus). "when alarmed, it will bark a sound much like a dog" (wikipedia).
