I tied an olympus ls-5 recorder high in a tree and left it for half an hour. There are still quite a few people around and you can hear their voices alongside the birds which are getting ready to roost.

Hear the sound of the waves of sea, as they hit the rocks of beach. Its a cold winter, and that sound of sea bring in mind the most obscured - deepest cold beach.

A recording of strong north winds gusting through a neighborhood. You'll hear leaves ratttling, the flapping of a big tarp, dogs in the background far away, and, one of my favorites, wind chimes. The jingling wind chimes really get going towards the end of the recording. Occassionally a loud car drives by. I sat my handy zoom h4n recorder on my front porch for this one and used the internal microphones with record volume at 80. .

This was an unintentional recording as i was testing out some new gear, this meant that i wasn't able to unclip the mics from my rucksack straps and avoid picking up the rustle of my clothes and some breathing. A train and canal boat engines can be heard in the background. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is no processing to this recording other than to ‘normalize’ the levels. I do not require any credit or attribution. This recording was made in my backyard. I live in virginia beach. I do a lot of nature filming in high noise areas; areas such as gardens near airports. I will, many times, use the sound from my backyard as opposed to the camera sound.
