Not that great of a recording, but this is the loud sound of hundreds of cicadas in a tree outside my home in nashville, tennessee, in 2011. These are 13-year cicadas which emerge in large numbers every 13 years in summertime. Recorded with an iphone.

The sound of a construction worker operating a concrete road saw on a rainy day is heard in this recording. The recording begins with the saw already in operation, then is shut off and shortly restarted. He makes a couple of passes on the section of road he is working on and turns the machine off. A nearby siren is also heard at the end, so the shutdown at the head can be used as an alternative. Gear: zoom h6, xyh-6 x/y capsule (120 degree stereo image), rycote windjammer. Recorded in kanawha state forest in west virginia on a dr70r with shotgun mic. Some clean up and noise reduction with rx8 in reaper. It's a small mountain creek but it's pretty prominent in the sound, i'm about 10 feet away. I also have a version where i bring down creek noise, check the profile.

A solitary wolf howls in the cooper creek drainage, wrangell - st. Elias national park. The creek, itself, is an aufeis-filled reverberate acoustic environment.

This recording was made along the ocoee river in tennessee. It is a combination of 3 or 4 recordings from different locations along the river put into one file.

This is a recording i made of the ambience at our local diner one man band-- it's a staple of our local culture and still maintains a, "50s diner" kind of atmosphere-- something you can feel in the air when you visit the place-- i hoped to capture that dynamic with this recording-- the sound of utah-- something lost in time and yet so progressional.
