That and making the sound repeat in fractions (?) or something like that. Like one trigger is 5 times and then the next is 3 times in the same space of time. Etc. This is a very brief sample obtained by opening a zip file with audacity. It sound a bit like a dial-up modem. It seems to work well for melodic solos and playing two or three note chords sounds good, too.

This is a random synthesized click-sound followed by a reverb with 200 ms pre-delay. I used cubase roomworks and roomworks se for the reverb, synth 1 for the click and various plugins to master the samples a little. Still they sound pretty unprocessed so you can edit them to fit your needs.
