This started out as a basic kick drum pattern i was experimenting with in ableton, and then devolved into me applying an obscene amount of delay, echo, reverb, compression, and filtering. And now it sounds vaguely like a helicopter :).

This is a recording made just outside my window. A helicopter flew over just a minute later, twice! i used a cheap large diaphragm condensor mic, with a plastic bendable tube around it, pointing just outside of my window. This created a cool midrangy-resonant-combfilter kind of sound. Gear used: cheap ldc -> m-audio dmp3 -> terratec ewx2496. This is for the earthfirewindwater contest. It is a 2:08 minute long, stereo 24/44 wave file.

My wife bought me this cool remote control helicopter for my birthday, so i recorded it flying around the room. At the very end, the blades knick the wall a couple times before it falls to the floor and stops. Attribution is not necessary, but if you use it, i'd love to hear what you did with it. Uh-1 helicopter does one flyby then approaches and flies directly overhead. It kicks up some sand as it goes over and then lands on a ship, about 100 meters away. Basic sound using reason 10. Modular. Edited and rendered in reaper. Loaded into morphagene. Output (left) into erbeverb to create stereo. This fed into dual lpg from buchla (thomas white eurorack version) voltage controlled by random wogglebug trigger into tempi and maths envelop and thence into mimeoophone and into mixer as stereo. Other stereo from morphagene direct through mixer to element 24 to re-edit and render in reaper. Mixer doepfer a-138bp (dual 4 track version). Please excuse the clicks - caused by the analog handling and slight clipping (i´ll do better next time, i promise :).

While i was recording the atmosphere of a park in tokyo, a helicopter suddenly passed over me. It didn't seem to be an attack chopper. Relieved. Somebody walked by in this very moment. At835st set to wide stereo mode and korg mr-1.

This was created by accident while trying to make engine noises. I can't remember the base sample but it's lost in the mix underneath reverb and other effects that create something that sounds to me like the interior of a helicopter. I hope that's useful to someone.
