A huge party.

This is a sound i created for the first season of get up, pierrot. It was used in one of the first episodes for an atm sound and it has been our most used sound in the series so far! i made it by using a combination of different party blowers and layering them. Sounds and music from a local party in the village of ziros, eastern crete. First 3 minutes are of general background ambience followed by an 8 minute dance song played by a local folk band. This was a single take with no editing applied. Permission to record this was obtained from the band and the song (to manousaki) is traditional cretan and in the public domain.

Recorded at hope st radio, a bar/restaurant/radio station at collingwood yards, during the tail end of a disorganising community dinner. In this recording, about 80 people are learning or playing mah jong while the restaurant kitchen closes service and the sound system is off. There are adults and a few small children in the room and too many djs (common problem here). It was recorded on a sony pcm-d50's internal stereo microphones at 120°, mounted to a tripod while everyone drank the last of the free natty wine. #natural #wine #salomons. This recording was taken in may 2021 on unceded wurundjeri land, which belongs to the woi wurrung people of the eastern kulin nations. I acknowledge their sovereignty and pay my respects to their elders and all first nations people.

Some bells - first played one by one, then some clusters. The bells were part of an art installation from yougoslavian artist stipo pranyko, who was having a retrospective at tea, in santa cruz de tenerife. This was recorded in the big halls of the museum, that's why there's so much reverb. Recorded with a zomm h4 n.
