This is a version of a previous file i created (https://freesound. Org/people/funwithsound/sounds/394897/)that includes a gong at the end to make it more dramatic. It would be really nice of you to credit the user "veiler" for their awesome gong sound, and maybe me for making the failure sound. But no obligations. :-). While perusing freesound for a nice and dramatic sound or two of failures, all the ones i've seen were pretty wimpy, so-to-speak. So i decided to create a few failure samples on a music-making program called musescore. These are for big whopper failures (or "epic failures") and are very dramatic - they may also be used for a scary event in a film or play. It includes a short buildup and a loud dissonant chord at the end to create suspense and horror. For this project i used violins, violas, cellos, double basses, timpani, cymbals and brass. Enjoy!.

This was recorded at a home and hardware chain store. Along with the general ambiance, a recorded announcement comes over the speaker periodically, requesting that a qualified employee is needed in the "board-cutting area".

Made in ableton live. A slow firing heavy weapon. 19 layers were used to create this one. Eq was used to select different frequencies from various weapon samples and compressed together for the inital transient or pop. Time based fade in/out layering was used for the sustain and reverb tails so they fit nicely together. The single shot that was layered together was then printed as a new audio sample. I created a loop and pitched every shot by a few cents or 1 semitone to add variation. Each sample was then manually shifted on the timeline forward or backward by milliseconds to give a more realistic feel in timing rather than sound robotic. Each shot was sidechained to duck down in volume when a new shot triggers for more clarity. Mechanical trigger and bolt movement samples were add in before/after the initial transient of the shot. Shell hit floor samples were used for added detail. I felt the shots lacked a good sub bass so an eq was used to filter out the sub and replaced with a rapidly decaying 808 kick drums sub. Once the loop was formed, all shots were then grouped together and processed with a transient designer into a clipper, a compressor, a maximizer, ott multiband, gluing reverb, stereo spread and then into a final limiter. We have a really old garage door that apparently is not very well lubricated. The squeaking adds a nice creepy feel, recorded using a zoom h4n field recorder.

I really hurt my throat doing this :p. Here is several growling sounds recorded by me. Recorded with sony hdr-pj260v then edited with audacity.

Recorded on marantz pmd661 with rode ntg-2. Sound of builders taking down scaffolding in a large echoey space. Sporadic clanging and banging sounds throughout and occasional muffled voices (with cockney accents). Good ambient sound for builders working in a cathedral, empty art gallery or some other large, open space.

Sorta old school, retro, vintage vibe retro rock with maybe a dash of neil young and grunge. Just some chords and vibrato.

Piano lid gently taps as it is opened and rests against the upper front board. Organic reverberations can also faintly be heard from the detuned strings. Possibly could be used for something interesting, it has a wooden bass drum sound. 100+ year old upright piano, microphone placed directly inside. (sample 1 of 4).

Inside a large walk-in fridge in a hotel.

The roar of a industrial rooftop ventilator coming to life (starts at 00:10). It is a large and scary whirring, mechanical, grinding sound. Used in episode 10, "decoherence" of the genius-podcast audio drama, and used to be the sound of the thames flood gate being deployed.

A powerful orchestral metal song.

In 's-hertogenbosch in holland we have carnival every year. This is a recording in the centre of the city. A recording of several 'dweilorkesten' that is a band that plays musing in the street. 'literal' translation is 'mop band or mopping band'. The go trough the streets like someone mopping the floor. This recording at the market-place is made with hundreds of people around. The ambience here is totally different from other places in the town and the world. It complete different than the south american carnival. Recorded: march 7th 2011, markt, 's-hertogenbosch, holland.
