Dialing the number 3. The dial plate telephone "fetap 611-2" (fernsprechtischapparat) in screaming orange was distributed by the german bundespost from 1972 on. It uses a real bell for ringing and of course it can only do pulse dialing. This was recorded with a single røde nt5 microphone via a behringer ddx3216 digital console into ardour. Normalized over all dial pulse samples of this set. Edit feb 2020: i changed the license to cc0 since i myself use cc0 material from freesound these days a lot.

Old german black telephone, called w48 by siemens. Build from 1948 to the sixties. Recorded with tascam dr100 mk3 and rode nt3. Some optimizing in cubase.

Recorded with my epi sg through the walrus slo pedal on dream setting into the focusrite 2i2 interface and into reaper. The bass was recorded with a squier mini-bass through a behringer bxl1800 amp and into reaper. Did a pitch change on the guitar and no quantizing as i like the 'push/pull' feel of the human tempo. This ringtone is a very quiet sound and is intended to stand in sharp contrast to the hectic world. It is intended that you only sense it at the beginning and only become aware of it at the end of its melody. Important calls repeat themselves anyway and you are saved the unimportant ones. 😁.
