This is a simple clip of a police motorcycle starting and revving up a few times. It doesn't have much of a roar but is much softer of an engine sound.
Recorded on 21/02/2010 at approx. 9am standing next to the grossmünster church in zürich, switzerland. Recorded with a zoom h2 in 2-channel surround mode, with a windshield (but unfortunately there is still a bit of wind noise towards the end when the police siren starts). File has not been modified, only cut short from a longer recording.
Driving a japanese sedan over rumble strips on a paved road. The zoomp-zoomp-zoomp sound is designed to warn of an upcoming intersection stop. The car stops, you can hear summer cicadas rising, then the automobile accelerates.

Two contact microphones placed on two pieces of coal and burning wood. Eventually, the contact microphones both burn completely. You can also hear digital noise before that. Free to use without any credit.
I sound recorded my metal slinky springing up and down as i was holding it. If you put your recorder on the slinky you should end up hearing the following sound, like an armada of storm troopers.
Part of a firework display. Can hear roman candles with screamer units, and the launch and burst of shells. You may wish to turn up the bass and wear headphones! now geotagged at last - thanks for all the comments!.
Lighting an electronic cigarette lighter from komazawa, tokyo, japan. The lighter is emblazoned with the word "tadaima" = welcome home. Recorded in mono with an akg 414, fredenstein mic amp, rme fireface interface into pro tools.
A small to medium fire in a fireplace. Room ambiance, slight hiss from wet log, cracks and pops throughout. If you use it, please let me know, i'm curious. Thanks.
Recording of a fireplace where some wood is burning, the wood is not much dry so the sound is crunchy. I recorded few takes and edit and mixed them to get the right sound. Recorded using a stereo pair (ab) connected to an apogee mini-me and a computer.
