I have a lot of old hard drives, some of which are still working and others are damaged. My project is collect the sounds produced during start-up. To do this i use a digital recorder zoom h4n using the two incorporated microphones and two 'diy'ed contact microphones additionally. This here is the sound of a western digital caviar 32500 working fine.

Electronic minute no 32 - 2xsh-typ - beep machine. Yeah!i have made my modular synth into a beep machineunlimited amount of beebs buzz and clicksalmost no reverbwanted to keep them sounds clean(men ingen feebback. . . ). Evaluation of patch/soundone cycle is - there are many cycles to consideronly short sounds - no, goodamplitude variation - nopitch variation - yeptimbre variation - yepmusical value - well. . . Entertaining - more useful.

My headphones started to screw themselves over while i was going for a walk with them and it started pouring in the middle of my walk. Which made my headphones pretty much unusable and it seemed to make this strange static noise even when turned off. It was actually kinda creepy but i did realise that this would make for a good sound for a videogame or movie that needs static of some kind. It's just too bad my headphones don't work anymore. Feel free to use this sound however you may please, you don't even have to credit me. It would be appreciated if you did though!.

A sample of my microwave oven's transformer starting up was paulstretched to roughly 30 seconds using audacity. Makes a really nice 50hz buzz sound. Input voltage was 240v 50hz ac, output is about 2400v (2. 4kv) ac. Recorded using an oppo reno 8 lite 5g phone.

Noises from an old gdr tube radio (1966, oberon) when tuning through mw, lw and ukw bands. I tried to separate the different noises and let them be heard for a few seconds so you can edit the noises you need. First there's lw, then mw then a few noises from buttons on the radio then ukw at the end with fragments of some german radio stations in 2021.
