Pine cones dropping and landing on a bed of pine needles. This recording was made on a windy day, so there is some background "whooshing" wind; all in all, i think these pine cones softly landing on the needles can be put to good use. Recording made with my zoom h4n recorder, with a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone. For this recording i literally wanted to get as close as i could, so i placed the shotgun microphone on the ground and carefully let the pine cones fall as close to the microphone as possible, but without hitting it. *not easy to do. Wind is picking up while someone is near the highway.

I was skipping in my backyard, it was a windy day, it was in the afternoon.

As the earth continues to slowly tilt the northern hemisphere away from the warmth of the sun's rays, the pace of life in midwestern fields slows down. This recording was made at 3pm on wednesday october 5 2022 in a huge, 70-plus acre, abandoned farm field. A field bordered thousands of acres of state-owned forest. The soft peeps of the few remining birds, grubbing around for protein-packed insects is the soundtrack. At 5 minutes into this recording a delightful, friendly exchange between two birds as if they are saying "hey, let's help each other find food before this field is blanketed with snow at cold. ". At 7:05 in this recording a truck slowly drives by, softly crunching gravel and the driver slows down to witness this annual, melancholy autumnal change. I captured this sound on my canon powershot a460 digital camera. It was a horrible night, with strong winds and heavy rain. I went to my garden shed and positioned my camera at the small window inside my shed as there is a small hole in the right hand corner of the window, and through this small hole the wind blows through it making this whistle sound, almost like a flute.
