A 3-inch folding pocket-knife opening and closing. Recorded very close to the microphone. Makes a snick/click sound. The sharp blade folds into a steel housing so the sound is metal on metal. Recorded: august 2014, with android voice recorder (mono), inside/evening in very quiet room. Noise reduction with audacity.

I took a clip from the audio i recorded of wax paper crinkling, cut a segment from it, played it backwards, put it on loop, layered it with the original, and this is what i got. There is an somewhat syncopated pattern to the sounds, but the audio is cut off before it makes a full cycle. Enjoy.

This was recorded by holding a small pcm recorder (zoom h1n) very close to an ipod 4th generation. The ipod was turned on and its hard drive tried to start up. You can hear the spin up of the motor and the hard drive head clicking back and forth. The hard drive fails to power up completely and eventually shuts down again. A 350 hz high pass filter was applied, in addition to audacity noise reduction, to get this clean motor noise from the original recording. The stereo file was then mixed to mono because the mic was slightly off center from the ipod, and the stereo provides no benefit. The hard drive in this ipod is a 1. 8" 40 gb toshiba hard drive, the ipod model is a1059. The microphone was held just 3 cm (1. 2 in) from the ipod. Recording settings were stereo 44. 1 khz at 16 bit (wav format). The file is the same except it's mono.

Recorded inside a closet. Low noise, not much reverb. Sounds almost machine-like with a satisfying thump. Recorded on a phone. I messed around with it to get it to sound nice. In case you do something that mixes the channels: on the opening part i copied a 5khz to 8. 5khz band from the left to the right channel, so that frequency band is mono.

Believe it or not, this is a recording of a hospital reception bathroom. Recorded in mono on a samsung galaxy s10+ so the quality isn't the best, but i did some eq, some processing to make it sound more stereo, and some metallic convolution reverb, but other than that this is basically the sound as i heard it.

The "concrete cello" pack is a collection of scraping, scratchy and droning improvisations on the cello focussing on the creation of sounds to be used as base materials for future compositions. They were originally recorded in 2019 to be used in as sound design elements for the documentary "hotel regina" by director matthias berger for which i composed the music. Part of the impetus of this sampling session was to create cello sounds that would be remiscent of construction machines. (if you look on the geotag you can see the machines, well, sort of). Striking matches / lighting matches close to mic'. 16 bit, 44,1 khz, mono source & output. No envelope automation, no compression, nothing except a slight hp at 26 hz. Clipping did occur on some transients for a few milliseconds (0-4 ms) on the strike due to mic' proximity (3 inches). Mic' used: samson c01 usb.

This is a series of sounds created for spitfire audio's make music day 2020 #spitfiremmd2020 it is a plastic drum, a springy pot rack and a big metal chip bin. Glass beer bottle blow sounding like the background "whoo" effect in the movies alien and blade runner. Mono. Old school spot effect. Helmholtz resonance using a partially-filled (for pitch tuning) glass beer bottle. The resulting tone was sampled, bandpass filtered, pitch bent and laid over a copy of the original sample. Reverb added post-effect to push the sound back and smooth out some nasty quantizing artefacts caused by the pitch bender.

Heavily pounding bassdrum originally made from 10 litre bottle punching sounds recorded with my fake shure c608 mic and heavily processed by adding some modulations, distortions, layering some attack and setting bass part (under 200 hz) to mono. The track was recorded at one of the last visits of a soviet tupolev tu-154m to prague-ruzyne airport. The plane was owned by slovakia government at that time. By dec 31, 2017 the aircraft, which was the last active tupolev tu-154 in eu at all, has been retired. After that the plane was not wrecked luckily, but went to aviation museum of kosice, slovakia :-) for recording i used a canon eos 6d with a mounted sennheiser mk-400 (mono) mic.

My apartment/studio was very quiet except for the steam heat so i put a mic in the middle of the room (an ear trumpet labs edwina) and put it through a lindell mic preamp and then into a focusrite 18i20 interface to record. This is the mono, 48khz, 32-bit file for your dining and dancing pleasure. Actually, it's just room tone and can be mixed judiciously to cover gaps in your own tone or to make brand new rooms from scratch.

Arpeggios in bm key : bm, am5b, g, f#7. Played on acoustic nylon guitar. Melancholic / sad feeling, the second chord has a dissonant flat dominant to give a hint of strangeness to the phrase. Sound capture using internal guitar electronics (godin multiac grand concert duet). Recording device is a tascam gt-r1. Initial sound was stereo with left and light sides 180 degrees out of phase. I converted to mono using audacity. Recorded on the 12-dec-2015 in houston, texas.
