I like to put special attention into not only the sounds and rhythms used in my work, but also the shape of the tracks itself when looked at in an audio editor. I enjoy working with dc-offsetted sounds, as i believe that, although there is not much of a difference when listened to, they must be picked up differently somehow by the brain.

Five years ago, freesound user unfa uploaded his gift to the world --- the worlds best quality silence, a free 10 minute sample stolen from the infinite void of existential truth. Here is a edited copy of his sample, normalized to 0. 0dbfs. Because what's the point of such a recording if you don't use all the available bits?. Please see https://freesound. This is a mostly unprocessed sound that i made in massive. Its not amazing, but it can be used for layering multiple sample. I figured anyone who wanted to use this would want to process it themselves. If it helps, i used this video to create a kick drum and i discovered this sound by playing around with different waves. This, my dear friend, is ils - infinitely loud silence. Play some other sounds and then play this, and you'll know why i call it this way. It's created by a bug present in lmms, a free program for electronic music production. Actually this sample can't reproduce the ils phenomenon, that creates a dc offset so big, that it outnumbers any other signal getting out of the same audio interface and the result is silence. It's a silence that is masking other sounds. Mind-boggling. Nasty bug. All this sound can do is cause some distortion, probably because 24-bit sound can be only as loud as 0db. 32-bit floating point should be able to get louder, but still i don't think any sample file would be able to reproduce this product of error.

This sound is a representation of a researcher getting out from a soundproofed room which is used for the brain cognition experiments. You can notice the difference in the ambient noise between inside and outside of it. As researchers of the center for brain and cognition, we work to advance our understanding of how experience influences the emergence of structure and function through computational and experimental investigation. We are also interested in understanding how mechanisms regulating brain development interact with the effects of experience to produce the structural and functional characteristics of the brain. These lines of research clarify how specific biological mechanisms routinely support the emergence of cognitive functions, leading to insights into why experience is so important for normal brain development.
