This is a broken automatic sliding door in a grocery store. It was functional but sounded like it was tired and needed some oiling or track repair. Recorded with an iphone in a grocery store after 9pm.

I got hold of an old sony dat machine (tcd-d10 pro) and noticed a very interesting sound when i opened the door to the cassette compartment. The sound was recorded with an olympus ls-14 and was slightly edited in wavosaur.

A sci-fi, versatile drone sound. Can have many uses. Goes well when mixed with other sounds or as a constant noise.

Synthesized in helm by me. Classic style--i could see it in an old-style movie or a classic-style video game.

Org. I imported that file to my ableton live. I reverse the sample and shorten a little. From the sample window i changed flux and grain values to bring out uneasy tones in front. I did make two other copies of the sample and played them all in same sequence, with slight different transpose values. I rendered it out and from the rendered file i did do further cleaning with audacity and export mp3 file for final. Here is the original sound http://www. Freesound. A space-ship laser firing sound with a retro-y 8-bit effect. My work, feel free to use in any way however you'd like. To make this, i used a synth in cubase to get the basic laser sound, then exported to garageband where i applied and tweaked the bitcrusher effect to give it the 8-bit effect.
