Here in the midwest one sure sign that winter "has left the building" is when the neo-tropical migrants arrive in the forests to gorge themselves on the multitude of insects, and to raise a family. One of my favorite bird-songs is this "zipper" sounding call of the northern parula. Perhaps you have heard this very unique call while out in the woods. I recorded this with my zoom h4n recorder, using its internal stereo microphones. This sound was recorded around 7am on april 29th 2013.

I was not expecting the bomber to fly over and it was a tribute to one of the last surviving members (edward saylor) of the doolittle raid on tokyo on april 18th, 1942. He was in the parade too. This thunderbolt was installed in 1952 and remained until sometime between 2012 and 2015 when the siren head was replaced with a newer bolt. The original controls and blower remain, however.

Nature, and man-made machines, wake up on a saturday in a small town in southern illinois. Even though getting "away from it all" and experiencing nature in the deep woods, or a quiet field is very enjoyable, let's not forget that nature often lives and thrives side-by-side with us. I recorded this in my back yard on saturday april 27th, 2013 at 6:45 am and you'll hear the low, but everpresent low rumble of a distant train throughout. But, over and above you hear the incredible variety of calls and sounds made by a family of starlings who seem oblivious to the iron horse and the occasional car. We had rain the night before, so every now and then you hear a loud "plop" as a breeze cuts loose fat rain-drop and it hits the foam wind-screen on my h4n. Starting at around 3:47 and running to 4:08 a cardinal makes a strong appearance. I made this recording using my zoom h4n recorder, using it's internal built-in stereo microphones, with the recording gain on 81, out of 100. Enjoy!.

An early morning recording made at 7:30am on sunday april 2nd, 2017 in a large field bordered by heavy woods. . . . Beyond the woods is a large lake and, with headphones on, you might be able to hear the sound of boats on the lake. It was sunny, but, a typical cold early spring day. Temp was 43 degrees with a slight breeze making it feel like 37. But, that did not stop the birds from putting on a chorus. This was recorded while sitting in a closet during a tornado warning as a thunder-storm raged outside the house. It was recorded on april 28, 2020 in tulsa, oklahoma. There are several very low frequency booms from the deep thunder. You can hear the faint sound of tornado sirens blaring outside. There is also the intermittent sound of panicked breathing by one of the two dogs that were also riding out the storm, sheltered in the closet. A recording of an eastern phoebe, made near a creek in a typical midwest oak/hickory/sycamore forest. This very unique, two-note call, which you may have heard before, is, in my opinion, very beautiful despite it's short duration. Despite this bird's non-colorful plumage, his song makes up for it!. Recording made on april 10th, 2013 around 6:45 in the morning about 15 feet from a small creek. My recorder, the zoom h4n, was mounted on a tripod in the middle of the creek. I was using the h4n's built-in microphones. Volume level was 80 (on a scale of 100 being the maximum).

In broekhuizen, near arcen, lies the old ferry named grubbenvorst, dying on the river maas. It has been replaced by a newer one. The old one lies rotting away some hundred metres away from its old trajectory. It was very windy that day and the carcass of the ship was mildly rocking back and forth resulting in this beautiful creaking. The occasional thud is the boat hitting the construction it is lying in. This recording was made with a zoom h2n on 4 channel mode. It was then further edited and processed using reaper. It was recorded on april 3rd 2018. The zoom was protected by a rycote windshield and my own cap as an extra windbreaker.

The eerily quiet soundscape of a small midwestern town during the covid-19 shutdown. . . This was recorded in town, on a friday night (april 3rd, 2020) at a time when there is almost always more traffic, people and families walking and talking on the sidewalks. . This recording started at 11pm at night. . . What a strange, weird eerie feeling of this track. You will hear a lot of steady wind gusts, dry leaves being moved around by the strong southerly flow. . Equipment: sony pcm-m10 recorder sitting on a small tripod about 3 inches from the ground. . . I had to really crank up the gain on this one because everything was so quiet---almost as if the neighborhood was holding its breath. . . . Hope you enjoy this unique ambiance.

Ernest Buława (1836-1878) „Im Traum sah ich das Liebchen” („Widziałem we śnie lubą”) – czwarta z pieśni ze zbioru „Cypressen : Fünf charakteristische Gesänge” dedykowanego pani Pauline Viardot-Garcia. Autorem wiersza „Im Traum sah ich die Geliebte”, (tzn. „Widziałem we śnie [u]kochaną”) który był literacką stroną pieśni był Heinrich Heine. Wiedeńskie wydanie przez Bösendorfera nie jest datowane, ale z pewnością zbiór wydano za życia Władysława Tarnowskiego, Hofmeister podaje jako datę wydania całego zbioru sierpień i wrzesień 1872, str. 192.
