One of a series of heavily processed recordings i made using a hikari monos cv. It's a small, highly tweakable synthesizer that's great for drones, resonant pings, and all manner of dynamic electronic sounds. Using s-layer, the sample-mangling plugin from twisted tools, i focused on generating short, punchy impulses that leaned into the resonant character of the original monos recordings. These sounds might be useful for ui buttons, as well as designing modern-retro sounds for games.

Generally, when you hear an announcement, you hear mandarin first (woman's voice), cantonese next (slightly different woman's voice), then english in a man's voice. A sample from a quick flight that i took with a friend on september 8th, 2015. Audio was recorded with a zoom h5. You can hear the engine start, then we idle on the runway for a bit, and you'll hear us make a proper takeoff at about 13:30. After that it generally sounds the same. You'll hear when i crank the level down after takeoff, but you'll be able to easily compensate for it if you're serious about needing sustained flight noise for a small plane. The plane was a 1964 cessna 172e and were flying around vancouver, bc.

This is a very clean recording (no voices or words that can be made out) of a 737 in flight from inside the passenger cabin. We were seated directly behind the wing. A hot summers day in the deep swedish forest. Recorded with zoom h5 with two dpa 4060 mounted in a ab stereo fashion. Birds chatting and bugs flying by is major elements in this field recording. Decided not to remove to much of the bugs in post because i felt it might suck out the soul of the recording. In post: in pro tools i removed some low rumble, and and trimmed the highs just a little bit. Added a "pro expander" to lower some noise, both generated by the h5 and the location. Hope you like it.

My keurig coffee maker has been sounding a little rough so i decided to record it with my zoom h1n this morning as it made me a cup of coffee. It's the entire cycle with the general noise of a kitchen. Mainly you can hear my 20 year old fridge humming in the background during the quit parts of the keurig cycle. A collection of sounds, recorded at the fast-food parking lot. An uncommonly-warm day in the great north, the window was partway down so there is an outdoor ambient background. Straw is unwrapped and stuffed through the plastic lid of a drink, making its characteristic shriek. Remembering when as kids, four of us would sit around a table before the age of masking, and work the straws in the lids to generate a racket, i did that. This could be used as a cartoon-ish engine start failure, sounds like an old fiat. Then the crunching of a paper bag as a decadent burger is extracted.
