I needed a sound of someone falling down some stairs, so i grabbed a pelican case (took the camera out of it of course) and dropped it down the stairs a few times while my mate was holding a zoom recorder at the bottom. At one point the case hit my friend in the leg, but don't worry, he is ok.

A simple field recording of mating frogs in the wetlands of western massachusetts in the berkshire mountains, usa. Early spring frogs mating activity. A simple recording using an iphone on a wetland hike. I cleaned the recording up a bit using audacity. Minor tweaks, light eq and normalizing. My friend and i had rented a minimoog model d (c1977, not the reissue). We were jamming out some ambient-type sounds, and my mate is just getting lovely tones out the moog, going through a deluxe memory man echo/chorus/vibrato for extra analogue niceness. This was recorded with my 9-year old for a phone app called tiddl. The app was developed to interrogate whether cats could be entertained with a phone app. The recording features torn and crumpled paper, little noises we use to attract our cat, casio. Also featured are: toilet flushing sounds, running water sounds, banter with my studio mate, and a heated exchange about engineering technique.

Pacific tree frogs at night during mating season in british columbia. Slight wind sounds and occasional noises made by a black lab readjusting her feet on the concrete :-). Recording is mostly to the left but sometimes shifts a few degrees to the right, and the frog's build from only a few to dozens over the duration. Captured across the street from a water filled culvert in the southern gulf islands on an olympus ls7 portable digital recorder.

A pair of owls stationed themselves outside my half-basement bedroom window in colorado early this morning around 12am. Unfortunately i only had my phone to capture them with, but it still turned out alright, save for the periodic vox-like breaks when silencing background noise. The hoot is obvious as to the source, but i'm unsure about the screech/cry that occurs with equal frequency. Is it the response of a mate? or just the yip of a curious neighbor dog?. Recorded with the stock application on my lg g3 phone and encoded to mp3 using the "video to mp3" app.

I have no idea what this is, it just turned up on a recording. Still sounds like it would make a pretty nice critter effect for some monster.

Two mourning doves: one close, one far distant, in a mating call and response. Pretty clean, spring pre-air conditioner pollution season background with light birdsong way back. Recorded @ 8khz with a griffin italk mic to a recently refurbished 20gb 3rd generation ipod - my favorite lo-fi field recording / interview rig. If you have a recording device on your person, you get a lot of stuff you'd otherwise miss altogether. This rig helps me get those things too ephemeral to capture with a stereo pair; sounds i would regret not having at all. I keep it on my belt 90% of the time. Just in case.

As i heared our doog eating the crunchy vegetables, i quick got my zoom h4n to record it. The maybe some noise of a fly or traffic in the background, but the internal mics were very close to the food-bowl. I had some issue when i came very close as the dog tried to eat as fast as possible, so i prefered to lay the recorder on the ground and kept away with my arm so the eating could be more relaxed. But the dog gobbled anyway in a fast way. Enjoy the soundscape. Maybe use it for asmr ;-).

30x 3-week old chicks and 1 hen just being themselves, then they get fed and all goes a little quieter for a while.
