Night storm in evosmo-thessaloniki (part 1) with more than 30 lightning strikes and thunders in a period of 20 minutes. The recording was made by me with the zoom handy recorder h2 (open window of my apartment). Sounds like even the street traffic, car alarm, a horn ship (the port is 6 km far away), human voices, dogs, and inside noise. Making use the adobe audition 3. 0 to edit the file. Enjoy.

The sound of far-away thunder during rainstorm. Created using audacity.

In this sample you hear a recording from inside a well sound insulated room, directly under the roof of a house. Strong rain hints the roof and produces low frequency muted sounds. In the background you hear the constant noise of the rain, coming through the window. There are also a few raindrops hitting the glass of the window. The sample was recorded using the built-in stereo microphone of a zoom h4n recorder. It was slightly processed to remove unwanted low and high frequencies which were not related to the actual recording. A very loud and rumbly thunderstorm rolled through jefferson city, mo. I set up my zoom h4n with the mics set to 120 degrees to record the storm. Less than a minute after i started recording, a lightning bolt hit just across the street. A lot of loud and rumbly thunder in this audio clip.

Rode nt4 mic with a rycote wind muff on (slight attenuation of the higher frequencies is noticeable to my ears) sitting on a chair under an awning on my porch. I hit record slightly too late to catch the first couple of bell rings, but got most of it. First we hear the church signal 8pm, then we hear the courthouse do the same thing. Also some wind in the trees right above the mic, some rain, a bit of thunder, and some cars in a small town.
