A typhoon thunderstorm recorded in a backyard of an apartment complex in xinyi district, taipei city, taiwan, in late august, 2022. Rain can be heard falling on grass, the glass roof over the recording area, and various roof materials in the area such as tin, brick, concrete, and clay tile. Occasionally, there is thunder. Here, i tried to represent the rain with a thunderstorm in the background, a sound that can be used in a thriller, drama or other movies. To the sound of the rain i generated "white noise", amplitude to 1. Then, i changed the acute and bass across the track to show some instability of the rain. To highlight the suddenness of the rain, i put a fade in during the first 5 seconds with a reverberation from 6 to 50s to make a natural sound. Finally, i added a track recorded of a storm with -9db for the storm and + 11db for the rain.

This is a field recording taken on a zoom h4n of a light rain storm. I focused the capsules on a gutter that was releasing a lot of water.

Recording of rain outside my house, with mic placed just outside a doorway under a plastic roof. Contains various dripping sounds from droplets coming off the roof and hitting lids of cans, the ground, etc. Recorded with a blue yeti microphone in omnidirectional pickup mode.

I recorded this sound at home, in the belgian country during the end of a storm (but there is no thunder sound). You can hear rain falling and a river flowing nearby. Very relaxing and useful if you need a rainy ambient sound. I recorded this simply with a tascam dr-40 (internal mics) and just edit it properly with audacity.

Ambience sound of light rain with some thunder.

Spring. Wav and spring2. Wav were recorded on the same evening in may during a long rain. The two recordings are similar but still very different. I've never heard so many frogs/peepers so deafeningly loud, persistent and oblivious to humans. I tried to record where the water was running but the animals drowned out the sound of the water. Beautiful sounds.
