Recorded with tascam dr-05 6jan2012 streetside where continuous streams of all sorts of hot-rods, custom cars, rat-rods, race cars, odd cars, party wagons etc cruise the ring road on the festival grounds.

This is a recording taken by a tascam dr-40 interal mics mixed with external sennhesier me-66. Tascam recorded rear exhaust of a stock fr-s on a dynojet while sennhesier recorded engine bay. Mixed to generate what it was like to stand in the room at the side of the car.

This chainsaw is brand new. 45cc recording taken at a distance of 30 feet and is unfortunately tarnished at the front with an ambulance siren. One or more sports cars can be heard tearing down the freeway at the intersection of the i-405 and the i-10. Several police cars are en route chasing after the speeding car(s). Recorded from a rooftop from a block or two away. The whole scene gradually fades away.

This is a clip of various engine sounds recorded on my 2003 subaru impreza wrx with a 3" turbo-back exhaust system. The audio starts with the engine at idle and includes a few engine revs at different rpms. You can hear some turbo whistling and also some rattling of god-knows-what parts. It's a little muffled (kind of a muddy sound), but could be used as part of an action sequence or with a music track laid over. Two contact microphones recording an engine from a mini cooper s in sport mode. Surprisingly aggressive-sounding. Intended to use for a race car asset. Contact microphones are stethoscope-like mics that you place onto a surface to record vibrations. This way, i was able to record the raw engine without wind or perspective. The left channel is the chassis and the right is the engine block. . . Blending the two together produces a great sound. Free to use.
