Here's a vocal sample of "hydrochloric acid" ran through audioterm and sent to a waldorf blofeld as a wavetable. The blofeld pitches up and then scans the wavetable (via mod wheel, so it's fun), which plays out what you hear here, plus a fair bit of outboard verb. Sounds like a vocoder but it's not. As opposed to traditional samplers the pitch is independent of the playback rate / length of the sample.

A very peaceful, melancholy soundscape i recorded on labor day weekend in some woods, about 20 feet from a popular lake in the midwest. There was a small cove in between my setup and several campers across the way. . . They undoubtedly were enjoying one last time with nature starting to change from summer to autumn. The main sound is that of insects, not sure what the species is, but, they have a beautiful, drowsy "tick-tick-tick" sound that repeats. . . To me, this sound signals the very subtle, almost imperceptible march towards the autumn equinox. I swear, the longer you listen to this captivating insect, you're drawn into, almost like a hypnosis state of reflection. . . A couple things to listen for:(1) around 1:13 a very low splash. (2) at 1:38 a lone goose honks. (3) starting at 2:30 some very low volume, muted camper conversations. (4) at 2:36 a louder splash. (5) 2:41 more beautiful, un-hurried muted camper conversations. No doubt talking about how they need to break camp and return to the real world, but the "tick-tick-tick" of the insects have a strong hold on them. I installed in december 2011 my sound data for bfd-eco, an acoustic drum vst that really rocks. By that time i had my akai mpc 1000 connected to my computer to do some sampling. While i didn't do any sampling while the installation progressed i did hear that the external hard drive that i was installing onto sent out disturbing binary pulses that my mpc picked up. I quickly started the sampler, and recorded as much as i could of the noises. This is the result.

I was playing around with my sampler fx today and decided to rig up my electric guitar. I use a fender american special stratocaster, hooked up to an akai s2000 sampler with on-board fx - distortion and guitar metal applied in real time, the signal then sent through to amplitube fx rack on my computer with vintage crunch setting. A high-pitched, metal windchime, sent through some granular processing software. The reel is divided into two, long halves: one with the sound playing forwards and one with it playing in reverse. This means i can easily switch from forward to reverse without tuning issues, simply by applying cv to the morphagene's 'slide' control.

Recorded with my squier telecaster and squire mini-bass through the focusrite interface into reaper. A nod to kenny gioia for the reaper tips. The guitar was sent through the walrus slo pedal on 'dream' setting. Also added a pitch change to compliment some of the guitar parts. The bass was double tracked for better sound. Bass amp is a behringer bxl1800. Comments welcome. There i was late a night. I was turning my computer off after editing my site. I was silenced by night. But there was a storm a brewin' i opened my bedroom window and put my ear to the icy wind. I knew then this wasn't the usual mellow wind. I ran down the stair with my zoom h4n equipped, went through the garage into the black of night. I sent my gain levels to 60 and with only a foam wind shield i put it between to to boards of wood to act as a wind shield thus allowing my to capture the wind slicing through the trees. With only adjusting the gain levels slightly in post nothing else been done, allow you to add you own effect on it.

This helicopter sound design was created at fl studio, in the sytrus synthesizer. The sound consists of four layers. 1. Sine wave frequency of 44 hz. Simulates the low frequency noise of propeller blades. 2. White noise passed through the svf filter. Simulates the noise of propeller blades. 3. Saw wave. Simulates the sound of an engine. 4. The sine wave. Imitates a high-frequency whistle of the engine. Various modulations are applied to all waves through the envelopes of the synthesizer. Next, the signal on the mixer channel is processed by a multi-band exciter and equalizer. Then a signal was sent to two channels with delay processing. One of them imitates reflections. In the lower-middle frequency range. On the second in the upper-middle frequency range. As you approach the sound source, the volume parameters of the direct and reflected signals are automated, low pass filter, pan width and equalization of direct sound. The helicopter performs strange maneuvers, as if making constant circles during the approach to the listener. I did not seek to create the veracity of these maneuvers.
