My dog and the nieghbour's dog don't like each other. While i was asleep they went to the fence and from the calmness they barked and growled at each other. The neighbour's dog who has sharper voice tore some pieces of the wooden fence on the nieghbour's side but the another layer of the fence is iron and cannot be toren apart by them. Recorded by sony stereo dictaphone.

My vcr rewinding a vhs tape. Sounds pretty gnarly at the end. Recorded with a jm27 into my zoom h4n. As a side note, this sound was a real pain to record. Every time i set up the mic, it seemed like the ac would come on, the dog would bark, or some other sound would ruin the recording. Whatever, i got it done.

Made using two synths. One is a noise generator that has been pitched down three octaves. It has a 12-hertz sine tremolo on either side, one of which is offset by half a wavelength. The other synth is a deep organ playing e3 and g3. I cut the sound in audacity, and the waves line up perfectly, so you don't need to worry about looping it badly.

Skype interference or feedback sound effect. Its the sound your computer makes if your speakers are too loud. What happens is that your computer plays the sound coming from the person on the other side and then it plays over there and then plays back on your computer, it builds up in waves. Just turn your sound down and it should go away.

I found this wonderful 4 foot high waterfall in a small canyon in the shawnee national forest in southern illinois. The cool splashing of the rivulet as it spilled out onto a catch-pool was enhanced by the echo as the sound bounced off the 3-sided grotto. Recorded on one of the hottest days of august 2011 using my rode ntg-2 shotgun mic into zoom h4n recorder.

7 hits on a paddle fan. Still figuring out how to record this. Recorded on samson q2u - the mic was behind the drum surface, and it was struck by my finger lightly on the other side, while being held at a wooden handle. There's some light paint on the drum surface, which may be made of synthetic (plastic?) material, and the rim is wire. It was a gift - unsure of its origins or nature, but it sounds cool.

Gem pathescope 9. 5mm projector, unit #1191, made in england. Recorded on a marantz pmd661 with a rode nt4 stereo mike. The gem is a variable speed projector, controlled by a rheostat. Speed for this recording was unknown, but probably 5-10 fps. Microphone was facing the operational side of the projector, 50 cm away. Audio begins with power being turned on, ends with power being turned off. The speed variation during recording occurred naturally.

Mid morning bird song from the 50+ house sparrows that use our side garden to eat from the feeders, perch on the hedges and generally don't go too far away before coming back for another meal. Recorded with a chromebook sitting to the side of my classroom desk. Yes, yes, my 8'th grade class is that immature. A mildly rude, but mostly noisy classroom, with the occasional (controversal) insult, and chattering. The teacher tries to teach the lesson, but struggles with trying to project her voice louder than the class. Eventually, the teacher has repeated twice for the class to calm down, and then the class calms down. May be loop-able with some mild editing in audacity.

For the recording, i used the tree-ear method, holding the microphones on either side of a tree, which results in a very wide stereo field (considering the capsules are omni). It was recorded in my backyard on a winter day which was actually more like a spring day.

Airplane, atr 72 (at72) flying by towards airfield at 300 m altitude. Atr 72 is a plane much like the dh8d, a twin engined propeller plane. Recorded at a quiet location (maybe only some birds). Observing point: 300 m from the side of the flying route (one has to look up about 45 degrees for the plane). Speed: about 250 to 280 km/h. This is the recording as it is, recorded with zoom h2n music-capable voicerecorder. The mode of the voicerecorder was just the good old ordinary left-right stereo recording (xy) not such things as mid-side or 4 channel etc. No compression used. I may have edited out some sudden bird sounds or beeps from the camera but that's of negigible influence on the sound. There is a slight hiss from a row of trees in the distance. Feel free to use. If you're happy with the recording, it only adds to the fun i already had of it.

It's an unedited recording of me lighting some matches in a quiet room. You can hear the sounds of matchbox's geting open, closed, the match being rubbed against the side of the box, matches catching fire and burning, finnally getting extinguished by waving. Mournful cows mooing in the night. These are my neighbor's pasture-raised cattle and they have a pretty good life but about this time every year he has to wean the calves. He separates the calves from their mothers. They are on opposite sides of a fence. The fence is a single electric wire. The mothers and their calves are inches from each other but not in the same field. It makes me so sad to hear them in such distress but they seem to get over it in a few days.

This is a recording of children playing in the large playground at the luxembourg gardens in paris, france. The recording was made from the east side of the playground, next to an attraction that allows kids to hang from a sort of harness and slide down a rail. The metallic clink you hear periodically is the sound of the runners on this gadget banging into each other as kids jump off of them. Recorded with a zoom h4n at 96 khz / 24 bits in stereo with built-in mics.

Vintage 1976 cloth top vw bug. I searched the database for this sound with no luck. Luckily i had some friends that could help me out. 2 people (my friends terese and jb) opened and closed the cloth top while i sat in the passenger side recording. I used a zoom h6 with the the xyh-6 mic at 24 bit 48k.

A soundwalk around my house with my brother. I start the walk in my house, and then i go to my front yard to investigate my dog's barking. I then walk on the fake grass in my lawn and narrate the sounds i hear from the road. Finally, my brother and i go through my side gate, where my brother and i walk on rocks. A recording of crickets chirping at night around griffith park. Occasionally, some light traffic can be heard. Recorded in a mid/side configuration with a sennheiser 416 and a rode nt2000. Edited to remove as much traffic sound as possible. Eqed with a bass rolloff, a slight boost around 5-8 khz (to hear more crickets), and a cut somewhere around 100-500 hz (to hear less of the traffic).

Nature, and man-made machines, wake up on a saturday in a small town in southern illinois. Even though getting "away from it all" and experiencing nature in the deep woods, or a quiet field is very enjoyable, let's not forget that nature often lives and thrives side-by-side with us. I recorded this in my back yard on saturday april 27th, 2013 at 6:45 am and you'll hear the low, but everpresent low rumble of a distant train throughout. But, over and above you hear the incredible variety of calls and sounds made by a family of starlings who seem oblivious to the iron horse and the occasional car. We had rain the night before, so every now and then you hear a loud "plop" as a breeze cuts loose fat rain-drop and it hits the foam wind-screen on my h4n. Starting at around 3:47 and running to 4:08 a cardinal makes a strong appearance. I made this recording using my zoom h4n recorder, using it's internal built-in stereo microphones, with the recording gain on 81, out of 100. Enjoy!.

Sounds of trains passing above an art atelier in brussels, belgium; the room is right below the railway, so you can hear trains making different kinds of rumbles and noises from the other side of the ceiling. It was recorded with a tascam hd-p2 recorder and a sennheiser mkh50 directional microphone. I selected only the train-passing moments, there is a metal door shaking on the background and maybe some traffic, but i think it's cool enough. (:.

A clean raw stereo recording of about a thousand people chatting with each other. No distinct dialogue. Recorded in stereo on an h4n. The microphone was positioned about 20 feet above and to the side of the crowd. Recorded in a big space with huge ceilings--would be suitable for a theatre, auditorium, rally, sports game, etc. , but an experienced editor might be able to make this into an outdoor scene as well. There might be minimal handling noise.

Here's some ambience i recorded in 2021 when i went to surf side beach, texas for a weekend vacation with family. This was recorded from the decking of the house we were staying in. The beach was probably around 50 yards away from us, give or take a few feet. The ambience was recorded with the sennheiser ambeo smart headset (no longer made) connected to an apple iphone 8 with an app called backpack studio acting as the actual recorder.
