Mixture of electronic and mechanical siren systems from three neighbouring cities during a tornado warning in eastern iowa. The wind hadn't really picked up yet but there is quite a bit of rain. Eerie yet relaxing.

A long metal spring was glued onto a cardboard tube, and when whirled, it makes a very strange but interesting sound. A zoom h6 recorder was used with the shotgun/pistol mic.

Rain and thunder with some added rumbles to make the thunder more powerful. Recorded with tascam dr-40 in stereo, 48 khz, 24 bit.

Finally rain after a hot dry july 2018. 10 mins rain with 3 large thunder claps. Not recorded as loud as i should have, it was dark. I used an h4n through an open window.

Recorded from inside my flat in an empty room with a tascam dr-05x. The window was closed. That little squeaking noise is only in the preview sound.

This is siren head's sounds, smashed together into one sound effect, with natural ambience noise in the background.

A light thunderstorm in carrboro, nc. Not too much wind or heavy rain, but some very good thunder claps. As the thunder slowly fades away, some distant traffic and a siren can be heard. Recorded on a zoom h2. This was uploaded as vorbis instead of flac or wav because it's quite long but i thought people might find it useful to have the whole thing. Some intelligent de-clipping was also performed in audacity to remove some slight distortion from the loudest claps.

A weak thunderstorm came to pécel in the afternoon on 1st of may 2014. Some thunder, wind and very small amount of rain. Recorded by sony stereo dictaphone.

I created this using digital synthesizers. I lost the presets to this so i can't say exactly how it was created, but eventually i'll create a new version and describe the process. It's basically multiple layers of very grainy (like sparklers or vinyl) noise processed through filters modulated by some kind of noise.

Steady thunderstorm rain with rumbling thunder at a medium distance. Rain trickling through aluminum downspout at start of recording. Midway through a carolina wren or related bird begins to sing.

Big storm hit my house, and i recorded it from just behind a window. Recorded in stereo at 24 bit with a sony pcm m-10 with furry windshield. Long easy rain. Recorded from my front porch the evening of may 22, 2018. Almost half an hour; slice it up to use your favorite parts. Rain slows down around 3:00. Some distant thunder around 16:20. Look out for a few small ambient noises like splashes or traffic. A perfect audio bed under your sound design of a rainy scene. Or layer it to create a storm.

This is an old recording from the year 2001 of a thunderstorm occured on 5th may 2001, at about 2am in pécel (nieghbour town from budapest), hungary. It was recorded by a grundig cr120 and i used audacity to remove the main background noise.

Recorded a near lightning strike using a vive surround sound mic and an h4n zoom recorder. The audio file was edited in adobe audition. The surround sound effect should play in any dolby surround sound system. This was my first attempt.
