All i did is that i recorded and played a little riff on my violin with my ipad, and then add some reverb, and delay effects in audacity. (very eerie-like, but pretty). This kind of reverb used in the beginning and end of the riff is a cathedral room-like sound, and a few seconds of delay. I used mostly double-stops during the riff. Enjoy.

A berimbau is a one stringed instrument with the string made from the inside liner of a truck tire, it has a claxia(sp?) a shaker with it and is modulated by placing the gourd against the stomach and removing it. Done with hdp2 and two sennheiser mics 66 67, was in 24 bit 96khz, downconverted to 16b at 44. 1, a relatively clean recording at a very high level.

Barred 4th fret strummed & and plucked recorded with blue snowball at 16bit.

I created this sample by recording my broken windscreen wipers and then edit it in cool edit pro using reverse effect, reverb and time slow down effect.

I got an acoustic guitar and wanted to see how well my cheap mic captured the sound, doesn't sound too bad!.

This is used by system of a down's co-leader daron malakian in the song suite pee. Making the harmonics sound on the guitar, just putting the finger close to the strings.

Something i did for a thing called victors crypt. I did it in garageband using chords of strings as the main theme in the tune. Then i added more strings along with a beat i made before the chords and the rest came along. I think it would suit something exciting, creepy, thrilling. . . Or whatever you think. I recorded a viola for a theatre project. I recorded it in a dry room, close mic with a neumann tlm103. Some samples are just noises of the bow on the c or d string, then once in a while creating overtones, other samples contain some processing with echoboy by soundtoys. Amazing plugins they make!. Feel free to use the samples in any way you like. If you use it in a project i am always curious to hear it. Comments and questions welcome.

This is a field recording from inside the "experience gallery" of the musical instrument museum (phoenix, arizona). The experience gallery is full of gongs, bells, drums, gamelan instruments, stringed instruments, marimbas, xylophones, and even a theremin. A schoolgroup of children were let loose at the time of this recording. Recorded in stereo with a sony pcm-d50 (onboard mics, wide pattern) while in motion.

Quite loud, close-mic sounds of low-register piano strings being played (c thru f) with long, uninterrupted decay on each note.
