Basic rain sound using tascam dr-40.

Five minutes of rain, artificially created. Same mix as my other "five minutes of rain" upload, but without the reverb in case you want to add your own. Process:. Using a blue yeti usb condenser mic on the cardioid pattern, i made a 30-minute recording of sounds from my sink (drips, splashes, different faucet pressures) and cut them up into 60 files, later edited down to 20. These were layered together and mixed with white, pink, and brownian noise. Slight noise removal applied. Recorded basic mic noise, and used a subtractive processor (reafir in reaper) to remove that sound from the final mix. .

An unintended recording of me and a passerby walking through very thick and wet mud on the walthamstow marshes. I was out testing new gear and couldn't remove the mics from my rucksack strap to avoid picking up the rustle of my clothing or my occasional heavy breathing. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is no processing to this recording other than to ‘normalize’ the levels. I do not require any credit or attribution. I recorded this standing outside our side door. You can hear a long, low rumble of distant thunder.

Recorded and post-processed with audacity. For a more "rainy" effect perhaps try use a few offset and panned layers of the sfx. Well, you can hear the result. .

Lots of cars are passing the microphone from side to side on a wet 6 lane street. With nearby traffic lights turn red or green they start or stop. Recorded with a ~30cm ab pair of neumann km183 microphones on a zoom h4.
