This is a "happy birthday to you" rendition to celebrate the 15th freesound birthday (april 5th 2020). The sound has been made by researchers of the music technology group of universitat pompeu fabra (i. E. Where freesound happens!), and voctrolabs. The sound uses choir synthesis technology developed for the trompa eu project. This means that what you hear are not real singers but synthesized voices generated by a computer! the score adaptation for choir is based on a score published in the choral public domain library. These are recordings of a small female choir group i recorded for a college film back in 2012. Captured with a stereo mid side mic into pro tools at 96k for use with effects such as paul stretch. I uploaded the cleanest takes i got, room noise is there but isn't terrible.

This is a spanish choir, one of the chirigotas who play in the carnaval in cádiz each year. This choir were renting the apartment next to mine in andalucia for a weekend. They invited me in for a beer and before i knew it they were out on the terrace singing their lungs out. Such wonderful people.

I got frustrated with youtube :) eastwest hollywood choirs.

This sample is a vocal "arh" sound, pitch d. It was created by singing "arh" into a dynamic microphone, with pop-screen and recording, through an e-mu 1820, into cakewalk music creator pro version 2. The sample was then roughly trimmed. The sample was then imported into wavelabs lite where the dc off set was removed, the sample was normalized and the trimmed exactly. This sample was then imported back into cakewalk music creator pro version 2, compressed slightly, then duplicated 5 times. Each of these duplications was given slightly different attack and release times, different pan and different eqs. 1 sample was given a multiple voice chorus\flanger effect and another auto-pan. A 6 sample was then added before the main sample, with reduced gain. This sample has increasing volume envelope and "moving" pan envelope. All 6 samples where sent to the same master out where "chapel" style re-verb and compression was applied. The mix down from this was then imported into wavelad lite, dc off set removed and normalized.

A pad made using fl studio's 3xosc, fruity reverb 2 and fruity lovephilter.

Recorded in 2005 on an unusually chilly september day, while walking in downtown ottawa, friends and i came across a ceremonial event at the war cenotaph. I thought i'd record the sounds of traffic, people and background music and my timing was good as the choir launched into a sombre and touching rendition of danny boy to remember fallen soldiers of war.
