Just some research i did for a show.

I built a pad with several multiosc synths, this is me pressing one key on a midi controller and letting it go. There are approximately 48 separate oscillators stairstepped on this one. I think it might have completed one cycle.

From machine noise collection. This is the sound of a compressor.

One sample run through lots of effects, but a large part of the sound is made by running the sample at really fast repetitions, so fast it just becomes a tone. That and making the sound repeat in fractions (?) or something like that. Like one trigger is 5 times and then the next is 3 times in the same space of time. Etc. Created by mangling a sample in reaper's js scripting language.

Putting a mini-jack adapter onto a 1/4 inch headphone jack.

My headset was plugged in into internal audio device, capture level sets to maximum and used command:arecord -c2 -f cd -d 10 internalaudiodevicenoise. Wav. Yes, guys, it's linux! :-). So pretty noise generated by very cheap device!as you can see from the console command, audiofile have the next format: signed 16 bit little endian, rate 44100 hz, stereo, duration 10 seconds.

Me turning my line6 spider iv 15w amp on and off again. Recorded with a boss br-600 digital recorder and trimmed on audacity.

An ambient sound, best experienced ina quiet environment, as the sound isbest enjoyed at a moderate volume level. Completely manufactured or created withaudacity with a basic noise file. There are very slight nuances ordiscrepancies with the sound; it it nota perfect monotone track, given theinitial sample is not a tone but a whitenoise sample.

It is the sound of something coming fast. In reality it is a microphone being scratched against a table.
