Harp player from gambia, africa playing the chora, a typical harp used in gambia or senegal, in western africa, by the so called "griot", a singer, storyteller, singing songs and stories, thus beeing part of the oral tradition of his country and people. The recording was made during the berlin carnival of cultures in the summer of 2011, the harp player and the drummer (djembe) were sitting among the crowd of listeners open air at the bluecher platz. This is a festival called "els tres tombs" where animals are the stars. The sound is recorded in sant cugat del vallès, catalonia.

This was recorded as part of my coverage of the riots, which i later allowed the bbc to use on their news programme. Disclaimer: i was not involved in the rioting and was only present as a bystander in order to record the events.

Toc de matinades is a form of catalonian folk instrumental music, performed by a group of gralles (https://en. Wikipedia. Org/wiki/gralla_(instrument)) and timbals (https://ca. Wikipedia. Org/wiki/timbal), which strolls the streets early in the mornings of local festivals to wake up neighbors for the celebrations. This recording was made in barcelona on feb 14, 2016, around 8:55 am, with occasion of festes de santa eulàlia, using a zoom h1 (44. 1 khz, 16 bits).

A few years ago we found it in the corner of a half-abandoned courtyard of one of the houses located on the main avenue of the city. Even then it looked bad. I'm sure there's nothing left of it now. Perhaps these sounds are the only evidence of its existence. Fragment 4/4.

Was walking by the finale of a very energetic street performance of chinese drummers and costumed performers. The humming is an electric generator. Also includes street noise and ambiance after the drums.
