Every morning the sprinklers turn on at my apartment, so i decided to record them turning on and off. Unfortunately, some outside ambience creeps in, but they're still fairly clean. Recorded with: sanken cs-1e, fostex fr2le.

A sample of church bells from a pamplona side street. Recorded in 1985 on a sony walkman using the in-built mics. Recorded onto tdk d90 cassette and stored since then in damp cellars, sheds, and long forgotten drawers. Just today transferred to digital using my fathers old decca legato tape player which we purchased in the early 70s to enable us to send messages to my uncle who had emigrated to australia. Dad says the player cost over £30 then which was more than a weeks wages at the time. I was inter-railing around europe at the time but the recording seems to stop in pamplona. Six weeks later all my money and passport was stolen while in crete and i made my way home via the british consulate in athens.

Birds singing in my backyard, with some people talking and children playing at the playground, traffic noises in the background; recorded with a cheap mono electret microphone (sorry!) - just what i had laying around at the moment. Hope someone finds if useful :).

The microphones are facing across the street to the el tracks which cross diagonally across the block at this point. The curvature of the tracks causes the squeaking of the wheels. Trains heading into the loop (north) tend to travel more slowly than those heading south. Cars accumulate at the intersection of harrison and wabash to the south (left). Time of recording was 5:41pm. I recorded an 18 wheeler idling at a grain elevator in rural oregon. Then it pulled away and crossed from left to right and drove away. Recorded with: fostex fr2le, at bp 4025 stereo mic.
